Hi guys I asked my manager about the itemised pay statement and he said that yes it is the paysilp and he has requested one and that it can two weeks to get one. I am suppose to get paid into bank by the end of tomorrow if I have no paysilp then I will have no idea if the pay has been taxed and NI. My manager told me that the reason why there are no paysilps is because the MD works out the figures on piece of paper. I am not sure about this company because when
I started the job my manager did not know what a p46 was when
I requested one but he did give me one later on to fill out. Ps I am typing on iPod touch so sorry about the mistakes.

But you must know what your gross salary is? Surely it's in your contract (you said you had one)?

If you know what your gross pay is, we can help you work out what your net pay (i.e. take home salary) should be. If the amount paid into your bank tomorrow matches up with that take home salary, you can assume that the relevant tax has been withheld.

You should be provided at the time or before payement is made.

A P45 is what you get when you leave a company so I hope you weren't given that.

Perhaps you meant a P46? Did you not have a P45 from your previous employers to hand to your new employer?

Works it out on a piece of paper? LOL

There is something very fishy going on there if you have to request anything. Statement or payslip it has to be provided and I bet they are just going to fudge one to suit whoever it is who requests one.

Yes you may know your gross salary but do you know what the tax and ni is without a payslip/statement?

I have never heard of a manual payroll where they 'do it on a piece of paper'!!

You can check what you should be getting and use that as a starting point to figure out whether anything dodgy is going on.

I must admit, this does sound very irregular to me, too. :(
