  • I invested £10 in a pie maker - in a sale - reduced from £40- and it has been really useful. The couple of spoonfuls of left over dinner are made into pies for packed lunches. Mangy bananas are either turned into banana bread or fed to the chickens. Left over veg from Sunday dinner (that isn't made into pies) is fried up for lunch the next day or added to broth mix for, well - broth! I make stock from veg peelings and bones then freeze it in any suitable container - even water bottes or jam jars!

  • How useful have people found Pie Makers? How easy and quick are they to use? Where is the cheapest place to buy them?
  • three REALLY icky bananas and one small parsnip that shrivelled to nothing. The bananas....*shudder* I tried one, and it was like eating nailvarnish remover. Blerk.

This might help out if they're not "too" bad... Bananas going a bit black?

And then possibly one of these...

And I think most banana bread recipes don't mind the quality of the bananas: banana bread threads here on Old Style MoneySaving

1 was 10 days out of date. DS found it and asked if he should throw it out, in front of Mr GG. Fine I said, planning on retrieving from bin as soon as their back's were turned ;). DS finally decides he understands how to recycle so takes egg & chucks in bin, where it breaks, and puts cardboard in recycling bin .

The other 3 were....... em........ we had friends to stay and I was cooking a fry-up. I normally fry using Frylight & bung under grill to 'set' on top. Decided to do the 'full fat' way. They all stuck together and broke when I tried to separate, and yolks ran into fat & looked manky :o.

2 nectarines doing their best to turn into prune-type things eaten though, so not all bad :) .
