I'll take your word for it, I like a bit of warmth in my food, but your tastes are way too spicy for meIt's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

Interesting and informative article here about Quorn and it's origins.

I was interested to read this, I knew that it was developed in an aim to "feed the world" but I wonder how much of this quorn is given to developing countries to help with starvation.
I am suprised that the article calls Quorn cheap, I have always found it to be quite expensive (unless on sale that is).0 -
Ah but I think , as a protein, gramme for gramme it is one of the cheapest sources. Wouldn't swear to it, but I am sure I read it somewhere. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

I always make my spag bol from scratch, use best lean minced beef, make my own sauce and look down my nose at Dolmio type stuff.
Anyway, the other day DS2 and DH wanted a spag bol but I was short of three things - mince, tom puree and, most of all, time. So I poured a large jar of Asda onion, garlic & tomato sauce into a pan, added a pack of frozen Quorn mince, heated it up et voila.
I didn't tell them I'd done anything different and afterwards I asked them what they thought of it (assuming they would say it wasn't as nice as normal). I was mortified when they both said it was the nicest I had ever made and could we have it like that in future.
Oh well, at least it will save me loads of time! Thanks Quorn!Oh dear, here we go again.0 -

You might be right...it just seems so expensive per pack when I can stock up on mince beef from local bucher at 99lb when its on offer. one lb of mince will make a vast quantity of bolognaise/chili/sheperds pie etc0 -
