Having sex with someone whose on benefit

I have a lodger who is on benefit and occasionally we have had sex, however over time we have gradually fallen for each other and now want to declare our relationship. As a higher rate tax payer I know that he will not be entitled to benefit anymore.
What we want to know,is that when we declare our relationship will we be accused of being in a relationship previously (we have been living together for a year) and hence have been committing benefit ? How do we prove we wern't previously in a relationship ?

I'm sure you didn;t have to be quite so specific and state the obvious :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
So you are basically saying you and Lodger have now started a relationship?
Yes, I think there will be suspicion, but unsure how you prove otherwise.0 -

Tell him to get a job ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0 -
You've been in a relationship with him since the first time you 'had sex' with him. Whenever that was. I have no idea how you can offer proof either way..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

You were screwed when you got screwed by him0

So you're friends with benefits? (I'm really sorry, I couldn't help myself).
Do you plan to stay with this person? So so SO tired of being ripped off, and mislead
Hope sharing saves some pain.0 -

So it's when we had sex and not started a relationship that counts ? Will we be able to claim his benefit for the days we don't have sex ?0 -
It only counts as a relationship if it's good sex.
You need to fill out an orgasm diary, and submit it, after getting it signed by a medical professional.
More seriously.
Living together is a horribly complex thing from a benefits point of view.
There are no simple rules at all.
At what time would - for example - one of you sleeping with other people have caused problems between you?
(Assuming that it bothers you now)0 -

which benefits is he on
do you have a rent book, showing payments over a period of time ?, that would negate the uncertainty of when your relationship changed from landlord/lodger to live in couple
Would he retain his own room and still lodge there or share your room ? Would his payments to you towards living costs become shared ?
he may be able to retain soom if he maintained his lodger position and just happened to be a FWB ?0
