No I am a proper vegan, don't eat eggs:) but have "scrambled" tofu before, many times and thanks I have never thought to bulk it out with noodles, will give that a try, in fact might try flat bread before I go!

keep 'em coming please, would like a good repatoire before I go!

Thanks for the links will have a look at those soon.........
  • Bump! :j

I thought I'd bump this again as we're getting into the main camping season! (YEY!!:T)

We're off for 3 nights this weekend to the moors round Shipley.

A large bottle of "Pure" milk is in the freezer, as is the bacon, sausage, burgers etc. so as to keep cool and last the duration.

First night meal is now tradition. It must be a rotisserie chicken, bread and cheap (but still good!) fizz.

Breakfasts will be bacon butties or danish and coffee.

One evening meal will be a BBQ, the other at a pub (the weather isn't looking too great, so we'll go out when its lashing down!) For the BBQ I got fresh chicken, cubed it, and froze it in a lock n lock in a marinade of white wine, lemon juice and zest, garlic, thyme and olive oil. As it defrosts in the cold bag it will marinate.

I've got packet soups for lunches or supper (we eat breakfast late as we sleep so much better! lunch is often skipped or *cough* liquid )
Mulled wine spices will be packed, and other such naughty alcoholic beverages!

Playing cards and those books we "keep meaning to read" will be our entertainment. The site we're going to has no EHU for tents, so it's miner's lamps for reading past sundown!

Have a great BH and a great camping season everyone! :j

Well, I have got noodles, some tapenade, dried burger mix, dried sausage mix.

I have bought some Bute Island vegan cheese that is ok to travel out of the fridge until we arrive.

As a great experimenter I tried something at home first.................
The apartment has just 2 rings and a fridge and no toaster, but me being me and living up to my username, wondered if it were possible to use those "toaster bags" in a dry pan and have them work just the same?
Well it does! it just takes a bit longer than it would in the toaster.(You have to turn them over and use tongs so you don't burn yourself)
So that will be good for cheese toasties:)
I have just weighed my cases and they will be about half a kilo under the max weight so quite pleased!

    Thanks for asking!

    Hi All,

I really don't want to start a thread that has been done before :o.. I have searched and looked through the indexed section - so I am really sorry if this is a duplicate !

I am going to france camping for a couple of weeks in a few weeks time, we went last year and found it really quite expensive to buy food and eat out (it was our first visit back there since the euro!)

My question was if anyone has any ideas on nutritious easy meals that I could make up on the camping stove ..of which I can take some of the dried/tinned etc ingredients with me. I did take some things with me last year, but just "pasta in sauce", baked beans etc - I am hoping to make something more adventurous and healthier for the family this year ! be so grateful for your advice :D

    TIA

    Lulubells xx

    Hi there
We love for breakfast small apple and cinnamon pancakes with maple syrup. Can bag up all the dry ingrediants into portions before you go and shake it all to mix with milk in an empty milk bottle. Something different, and less bulky than cereal.

    chicken fajitas....

    chicken breast cut in strips
    red pepper "
    green pepper "
    onion "
    fajita seasoning
    flour tortilla

fry all ingredients in a little oil...add seasoning...serve sizzling in the middle of the table along with all the 'sides' guacamole/sour cream/salsa/grated cheese...everyone loves making their own..if you have kids they like the addition of a tin of hotdog sausages for them to roll in the wraps///uses only one frypan/wok
