hi
slow cookers in caravans work just like in "real" homes.....
mine is far too big to take on holiday though...

Bought a steamer at the end of last season for the caravan. We have been using it for the winter in the house so we might have to get another. I prefer to cook on gas but we have one electric ring in the van so I am hoping to try the steamer on this to cut down on the amount of gas we use.
We did try it in the van on one trip and it seemed to work OK so have high hopes for this season.0 -
We are going on holiday to Spain self catering and all we will have is two electric rings and a fridge, plus I am taking my tiny travel kettle.
Will be taking some bits of food with me like burger mix and a few blocks of Scheeze ( which can live out of the fridge for about a day and still be ok)
I need some inspiration as to what to make apart from the obvious pasta etc.
I will miss not being able to nuke baked spuds
So can anyone inspire our holiday menu please?
Has anyone taken their hand mixer on holiday with them before?
I wondered about taking that with the sharp bit in the case and the electric bit in the hand luggage?
I could make pate & soup & ??.......
Thank you in advance.0 -
When in Spain ........... how about paella, gazpacho.
Sorry, can't be more help - everything I think of is non-vegan

You should be able to make plenty of things with just a hob - fear not!
A lovely tomato and bean stew with be excellent in Spain and all the ingredients will be easy to find.
Obviously pasta like you said but also a sort of stir fry thing - even without a wok you can just flash fry some nice veggies and fresh beans (or tofu if it's available in Spain) with lots of soy sauce and boil up some noodles or rice on the other ring.
Risotto.
Plus I'm imagining it will be nice weather out there (hopefully) so you can have lots of nice al fresco meals like bread with tomatoes and salads, crudites and yummy dips. Guacamole, hummus and lentil/bean pate or dips are all easy to make especially if you can get tinned chickpeas/lentils but easy enough to boil up some lentils in vegetable stock for making a warm lentil salad.
Hope that helps a bit.0 -

Lentil Veggie stew? ( I have a rough recipe somewhere - would spain be stew weather though?)
Veggie burgers (done in frying pan or pot?)
Risotto?
Chickpea burger/falafel
Mixed bean casserole - simmered in a pot rather than an oven
Mushroom curry
Quick store cupboard vegetable curry (cooked in pot rather than SC)
Dry fried tortillas with salsa and lightly cooked chunky veg?
Veggie mince with tofu
Do have a look at the complete vegetarian index for inspiration too

Sorry I should have been clearer! First post use silken tofu in place of egg and noodles bulk it out - use instant noodles x0

No Don't worry Cool - i wouldn't have known you could use tofu in that way - although the one and only time I tasted it, i did say it tasted like scrambled egg
