Harveys sofa won't fit - customer service shocking!

I have seen some huge sofas get through impossibly small spaces. There's usually an angle that will get it through
You must have been seriously unlucky for it not to fit
I am one of those people with easy access to the garden and large patio doors thankfully. No more first floor flat with instant 90 degree bend to get through!
Providing there is not a tight turn eg corridor at a right angle and / or a lowish ceiling0 -

My point exactly. If this is a common problem, why do they not print size of each sofa/chair on the invoice, and ask the question about door width when they ask about stairs etc?
And please, don't bother making a smart comment about it being my responsibility to check door widths etc. Having never ordered a sofa before, how was I supposed to know that? And their terms and conditions say nothing about it being my responsibility. I don't have psychic powers. Beds are standard sizes, why not sofas??OS weight loss challenge: 4.5/6 lbs0 -
This is true. A different delivery team might have got it in.
That's basically what the salesman said when I went to the store - he was talking about a delivery person who works exclusively out of their store who he implied would get it in. If that is true, why couldn't the original delivery team today get it in?OS weight loss challenge: 4.5/6 lbs0 -
Oh, and as it turns out measuring wouldn't have been much good anyway. The height of the sofa as shown on their website is 6" different from what the delivery man measured it as today!OS weight loss challenge: 4.5/6 lbs0

But if you had measured the actual sofa you would've got the right size wouldn't you!I'm assuming you ordered instore from a display model rather than online as you would've seen measurements online,as you just have.
Delivery guys will not want to risk damage to the sofa. There's also the fact that the design can make it more tricky to manouver.
Get a different style of sofa I sayIf women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

Couldn't measure the actual sofa. They didn't have the 3 seater version in the store, only the corner group and chairs.OS weight loss challenge: 4.5/6 lbs0 -
do they have the sofa on the website - does it state the dimensions?
You went into the furniture store and there was a variety of sofas I am assuming... and they were all various sizes -
and no not all beds are standard either, king size, queen size, double - different frames, different bases.
This is your first time buying a sofa and you have made a major mistake - just learn from it.
I think the other poster was saying the upholster suggestion was common and this happens with alot of people, because they don't take the dimensions into consideration like yourself, but alot of sofas are made to order and they ain't just sitting in a warehouse waiting for someone to buy them.0 -
on website:
Looks great. But will it fit?
To get furniture into the room you want, we first have to get it into your home.
Remember to measure and check- Doorways

I suspected that was the case, as most people would have been aware of such issues. All you can do now is hope they will let you swap it for a smaller one, but first you will have to accept that it was your fault, as, if you kick off again in the shop they will certainly not be inclined to help you resolve the situation.0
