However wouldn't it make sense in amoungst all the Seles 'blurb' we are given to have the necessary openings needed to get the furniture through? In future I will give the sales staff these measurements and get them to assure me the sofa will fit.
They do, it's called 'size' and listed on the label0 -
the majority of the people in this thread are massively ignorant, I recently orders a rather large corner sofa, of which, they didn't have in the store and there was nothing in the way of dimensions for this style of sofa in store or online, and the only question they asked was do you think there will be any difficulty getting it into the flat... to which I replied, well there is an element of difficulty fitting a sofa into any flat in normal circumstance, but usually there is a way of getting it in, either through a window or taking the door off ect, and the fact it wouldn't fit through the door wasn't the part at all of which I have criticisms of Harvey's, the delivery drivers spent over an hours trying to get it in with no luck.
the Store Assistant that sold us the sofa on the other hand... not so helpful, upon phoning the store in question to explain the situation, the store assistant was very quick to rush to the fact that we told her in store there wouldn't be any problems, which of course is a lie, she rushed to her legal mumbo jumbo and told us we would have to pay a fee of 50% of the cost of the sofa, and choose another sofa (smaller) and was generally very aggressive and not so helpful in this instance, which I'm 99% certain they aren't aloud to do... since that they have told us they will be getting a more specialist (local) company who are going to help us get it into the flat and in the mean time would be at the harveys store we dealt with... which is fair enough
the initial reaction of the store assistant in question, (Store - Poole) is something I am not very happy with and the fact this has happened is just a matter of bad luck and there will always be a way of getting it into the flat... one way or another.
hopefully I will shortly be telling everyone the sofas now in.
Maybe don't be so quick to judge someone as stupid and concentrating on perhaps not the main reason she came to the forum to air her frustrations.0 -

Think the OP might be over it now.
The post is nearly 2 and a half years old :rotfl:0 -
Harveys do provide dimensions on their website, they are at the bottom of the item's description.0

They're not ignorant, they are just aware who's responsibility it is to check if something is going to fit into your home or not and are surprised that someone would buy a large item of furniture and not think to check.
Many of us live in every smaller homes and are aware of the challenges this creates and either reflect it in our purchases or arrange for windows to be taken out or equiv to solve the problem rather than complaining that the vendor didnt think to check if it would fit for you.0
