barclays 40 day wait for ppi

  • Hello all
Well I am afraid I have lost the will to live with Barclays!
My 40 working days was also up on Friday 11 November. I also e-mailed the shiney one (Bob) on Saturday. I requested that someone with at one ounce of common sense in his Customer Relations Team call me today to let me know when I could expect payment. Have a guess what - no call
So for the 7th time in two weks I called them. Was given the usual run around until in the end I asked to speak to a Manager. This was the 4th different Manager I have spoken to, and each one has given me a different story.
Was told today that a letter was sent yesterday from the "shiney" ones office, and since then a cheque and letter was sent later the same day. Was given the amount, but after all the lies I have already been told I am not holding my breath.
Strange thing is I have banked with Barclays for over 30 years and questioned why I had been sent a cheque. Manager was unable to answer that one.
Anyways, when I arrived home from work the letter from the
" shiney" ones office was waiting for me. Yes, it was the same as the last posters, completely ignoring the questions I had asked and letting me know how long they had to answer a PPI complaint!!!! This just goes to show that they do not even bothert to read their complaints and just send out standard letters, totally shocking customer service.
I will be waiting to receive my cheque that maybe I will get by the end of the week, but who knows. If I dont, I am just going to forget about it as I cannot be bothered to get any more stressed out with this bunch of incompetent idiots.
Good luck to everyone else who has the misfortune of trying to get some sense out of Barclays.

    HI All,

Just checked my bank, got my Barclaycard refund today from PPI reclaim commenced on 09/05/11.

    A little better off now.:):):):):):):)

They did not however do as expected. They paid off the small balance of my card and then gave me the remainder even though I was not in arrears at all.

Never mind after waiting this long for payment to be made I guess I should not complain.:T:T:T:T:T:T:T

Good Luck to all those still waiting. (As I am for 3 Halifax CC reclaims).

    Initial Complaint:09/05/11
    Upheld Letter received: 08/09/11
    Acceptance Letter received: 09/09/11
    Payment received: Today!

    Well done you!!!

Received my acceptance letter, signed and sent back on 16th September. Confirmed it was on their system on the 21st September but since then nothing! Was quoted 8 weeks to receive the settlement but all I am being told is that its in a long queue of those to be paid!!!

Do you have Bob Diamonds e-mail address so that I can vent (politely) a little frustration???
  • Wow, it seems like I got it easy with Barclays.

I called them in September and asked for a copy of my loan agreement, they sent it within a week and I didn't have to pay for it. I sent my claim off and within a few days had a reply saying they were busy but would get back to me in November. The first week of November I received a letter stating they agreed the PPI was mis-sold and would refund me within 40 days and as I had a current account with them it would be paid into that. I think it was about a week later and the money was in my account.

The odd thing is I did have a call a couple of days before the acceptance letter arrived. It was a company doing a survey for Barclays about how they were dealing with the claim process, etc. I was quite complimentary about Barclays as they'd been quick to respond to me so far and I was happy with all the other aspects of my dealings with them. I'm really starting to believe the fact I was nice about them is the reason I got a positive outcome so quickly.

Fantastic news well done, how long have you been waiting?
  • Well done to those paid, but check this out.....

Sent my form back Tuesday last week.

Monday - Phoned to see if they had received the forms was told:
No we haven't, yes we have, no we haven't, yes we have in this space of five minutes.

Thursday - Phoned to double check as wasn't convinced by Monday's advisor.
    Was told no we haven't

Just got off the phone, yes sir we received it on the 11th all signed by yourself dated 9th and confirmed the loan docs had been received to.

He also said that my payment would be made by the 2 Dec when the new loan comes into force, not 50 days as previously quoted.

They really don't know their !!!! from their elbow!!!!
  • hi just wanted to update everyone on our barclays experience.

we complained they took the full 16 weeks to respond and have since adhered to every deadline set we got a letter end of oct offering full amount back plus interest - total of 6,000 asked that we send acceptance and then it will be paid within 6-8 weeks.

we sent this back on the 27th october and today exactly 3 weeks later i have came home to a letter with both cheques (one for ppi and one for interest) i have to say they have done everything they said they would and this is without emailing bob diamond or any phone calls etc

    good luck everyone
  • Hey guys, we've had our letter from Barclays stating that our ppi claim has been upheld. Letter dated 3rd Nov, received 5th Nov and duly sent back on the 6th Nov. However, after catching up on this thread it would seem that I am possibly in for a long wait and a chase for my money - how depressing. Must say though that the letter from Barclays never mentioned a period of waiting for payment.
  • Hi everyone

I've been following Martin for a few years now and know that he has always banged the drum about reclaiming PPI and I remember taking out a loan 10 years ago that I had to purchase PPI with otherwise I wouldn't be given a loan. I knew that it was useless to me because I intended to leave my employment within a 6 months of applying, which I did. That very same loan with it's bulked up repayments due to PPI contributed highly to my present situation of being massively in debt as I took out subsequent cheaper (but larger) loans to pay off the previous from other providers. My own fault of course.

Anyways, after taking out the Barclays loan, I moved abroad for a few years and then came back and now and then would see Martin carrying on about PPI and I'd always lament that I couldn't find the paperwork for it. After hearing about the court decision earlier this year and the fact that banks have set aside millions for repayment of PPI, I called up Barclays and spoke about claiming for this mis-sold PPI even though it was a long time ago and I had no paperwork or loan number. there were only two things on my side. 1) that I bank with Barclays and have done so for a very long time and 2) that the loan was still being repaid during this mystical 6 year time limit.
The intial call handler (from non-uk call centre) went off to find the relevant departments and found out and verified all my scant information for me. I think she said she'd gone to call people in the historical accounts.

I had a couple of letters from them saying that they were investigating my claim and they would respond within x time - which they always did - if only to say we need more time.

they sent me a form to complete with details I knew of claim etc. to go to the ombudsman. I didn't have any details so I didn't send that form back. Acouple of weeks later, I had my letter through offering me original charge + interest and I have since been paid about £2,300 all for something I did not have any evidence for.

    Good Luck with your claims
Hang in there and everything'll work out
  • Email Bob Diamond, it worked for me, 3 days later and the money was there and it was more than the estimate :)
