I found a false widow spider on my french doors step about a week ago  They can pack a nasty bite - needless to say it is dead and I have left it there as a warning to others :rotfl:
I can recommend Raid Red spray - you spray it around boundaries, doorsteps, windows etc, anywhere they might get in and it kills them as they pick up the poison and die. I have done the whole downstairs and am finding the occasional corpse so its definately working - not seen any biggies since. Not living ones anyway :T
The sprays effects last about a month but i'll be taking no chances and will spray again in 3 weeks!!!
Ooooh - I think I need to invest in some of that... I can justify the expense, by saving my freezer from becoming a nesting site... where do you get it from? B&Q and the likes??I am currently readdressing my whole life and with that means thinning things out. So, this is the first week of not working the second job and has allowed me to go to the gym. I have scoliosis and with renovating the cottage and rushing about managed to put 2 stone on through not eating the right foods. As a result my back is giving me alot of grief. Because I dont have to fly out now at night to the pub it will give me time to cook properly and eat properly again. Although finances will be tight I hope I will be alot less stressed.
I did that a while ago - I went from working 40 hours a week to part time. I just felt all I did was work, come home, feed DS and put him to bed, everything was always rushed, never time to do homework well, clean the house properly - plus even though I was earning more, I was spending more! On childcare, petrol, ironing, more expensive food cos no time to cook from scratch. To be honest, going part time saved me a fortune
Ooooo - like the leggings thing...
I went to Disneyland paris a few years ago in Feb before we were poorin February, and blimey it was chilly... we had leggings under our jeans, as when you are walking around in it all day you really felt it. It was fab - cosy cosy cosy....But id forgotten all about it so Ill be doing that again. Thank you :T

Jo - I am posting on both threads, but pretty mush the same drivel, so it does seem daft to have two threads. MSE Andrea has said it is ok to carry on as we were, and I think some of the posters who were more keen on the 'high economics' of our situation seem to have good off to pastures new.
I don't really know how else to explain that the other thread is positive, supportive and friendly, and all are made welcome?
I don't mind which of the two follow, I just think we need one not two running.:)Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
I worked 60 hours a week, sometimes more, and mainly to fund the renovations. I am sooo close to the end now that I am beginning to suffer and failing my exams (yes, I studied on top of that) forced me to take a long hard look at my life. Everyone around me said I was doing too much and I am wired up to push myself to the limit. Having gone a bit loopy when my marriage broke up I know the signs and they were beginning to show, so I had a chat with the OH and various things were agreed. Finances will still be stretched but hopefully I wont be. Maybe I will let the OH move in!!!:eek::D0

I'm not sure where I should stand as I used to post on the old thread but missed most of the kerfuffle over the last few days.
Nice to see tru again and some other names I recognise on here.
Made huge pot of leek and potato soup yesterday as leeks were on bogof and having some for lunch. DD has requested hotpot as her birthday meal tonight so going to start that and also turn some of it into individual pies with puff pastry topping.
New coat and boots from TK Maxx are in wardrobe waiting for bad weather and more energy efficient appliances are being fitted in kitchen next week. Collecting pair of altered french window curtains and thermal linings tomorrow and DH will help me fit them to the pole.
I have offered to buy dds new winter coat and good boots but they don't want to take me up on it yet so not going to nag!;)
DH waiting for british gas to call back about his complaint - which got "nobbled in the system" - suggested he does not hold his breath and concentrates on the good job we are getting done next week by an independant company with an excellent reputation. Can you tell I am disillusioned with them? Not that I was "illusioned" in the first place.

Ooooh - I think I need to invest in some of that... I can justify the expense, by saving my freezer from becoming a nesting site... where do you get it from? B&Q and the likes??
I can't remember where I got mine from.... might have been a local shop but am sure B&Q etc have it too
Expense totally justified!!!0 -
Hello everyone.
Would you mind if I came and joined you, please? I've never been a member of the 'T' threads as I don't feel I really fit in there: I'm lucky enough to be swimming along rather rather drowning. (I'm sorry if that sounds insufferably smug - believe me, I'm well aware of how lucky I am!) This thread sounds like it's going to be a bit more general, though, so I hope I can join in.
I've had a couple of unexpected bills this month, plus a scarily high gas bill last month (I still don't understand why it was so high when I barely use gas ), which has made me realise I need to get my you-know-what in gear if I'm to continue swimming along (or possibly skating along, given that it's nearly winter).
I've got to have a serious think about what I need to do - sorting out the freezer and cupboards seems top of the list given that I can't fit anything else into the freezer at the moment.
Right, I must stop waffling - my lunch break was meant to end 10 minutes ago- I look forward to getting to know everyone.
Back after a very long break!0 -
I'm a bit confused too (well I'm always confused at the best of times really!)
I've had my head stuck in a trilogy for the last few days so haven't been around to know whats occurred, but I,personally stopped posting on the T threads as I was told I'd taken it off topic but still continued reading it as it went waaaaay off topic at times????
I can understand some posters feelings that some are 'pulled up' on it while others are not
I love the thread when it is working I just get sad when it descends into squabbles so regularly about what should be posted..
A lot of us are cut off in some way or another and sometimes t'interweb is our only communication with the outside world in a day,sad I know but true for whatever reason so it would be a shame if the old style spirit breaks down.
Pink I think all the board guides do a fantastic job :T0 -
why do we have 2 threads? why can we just stay on topic and have 1 thread with relevant info instead of all the chat? its very off putting.0
-
Its simple - one is more geared towards more hardcore discussions and this one isn't.
I just called SKY to cancel a movie package and for no reason they gave me 6 months half price line rental - she said to call again in April and they will do another deal for me - I am only on the basic package but it seems they are keen to keep customers so if you are with Sky, might be worth giving them a call. Also... to save being on hold for ages, go thru to the new sales dept... one ring and they answer0 -
Oldtractor - sorry but can you clarify what you mean by 'relevant info' as this seems to be where the problem lies.
There are clearly some that think there should be a certain level of relevant information in a post, and others who are happy for the thread to ramble to where ever it goes before coming back to the general theme. I am in the second camp, as for me support in tough times includes being able to have a laugh and cheering myself up so that the bigger economic picture does not get me down.
Good luck mods in sorting this out!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0
