Just swinging by quickly to say hi :). DH and I have had a mad busy day. We have wallpapered the hallway as far as our stairs and it looks brilliant :D. We got a textured wallpaper from homebase in the end and a chap saw us on the way to the checkout and gave me a 20% off coupon which saved us nearly £30. We have enough paper to do the whole hall stairs and landing but I am working slowly on DH. He'll have kittens if I expect him to do the really big drops too soon so will get MiL to work on him with me on Tuesday. In the meantime, I shall just crack on and keep filling holes in the wall :)
May "speak" tomorrow, off for a spot of knitting now :)

Evening ladies, I hope everyone is well. I've got some catching up to do! Thanks for well wishes. It was a case of it not raining but pouring. I won't go into the gory details but in two days, I had news of 3 family members needing surgery, a scrape in my car, ds1 being a little *rudeword* and ds2 being in a lot of teething pain, amongst others.

The operations my family members are having are quite major and are coming up in the new year: shoulder, hip and lady garden (for want of a better word ;) ). The scrape is being taken care of, just waiting for news. Santa has had some stern words for ds1 and has left him a letter, leaving him in no doubt that his behaviour will result in no presents. I don't think DS1 is aware of the price of coal these days so santa will leave an (aldi) potato instead. He is normally such a polite and well mannered boy, he's being very argumentative and rude at the moment. DS2's teeth are coming through slowly but his molars are causing some problems. He's covered in teething rash at the moment, bless him. I had some time to myself earlier to get on with sorting the garden out, so I feel much better.

PIC: I kept chickens for a few years and never had to take them to a vet. They were ex battery ladies and we got them in to fine health. I had a couple die on bonfire night/new years due to the shock of the fireworks. I really miss them and would definitely get more when my youngest is less of a handfull. Mine ate layers pellets topped up with scraps. Well, I say scraps but I ended up cooking them a bit of pasta every couple of days because they loved it! If you are getting the girls and the house then that is the most parts of setting up.

Queenie: Sorry to hear you've been in hospital, I hope you are taking it easy!

VJSMUM: you definitely sound overdue for "me" time. It's so easy to focus on looking after everyone else and forget yourself. If you're OH is having time to himself at choir then I think you should stretch your time to a few hours to yourself! My OH needs reminding sometimes that I hardly get any time to myself but I don't like to compain because he is so busy. He took the boys out for a few hours today and looked quite stressed when he got home, obviousy not as easy as it looks, lol.

Having a moan - ignore if you wish

My SIL is coming any moment now with her 2 kids. She is coming to go to her sister's birthday party (we've been invited too), and then to a family party tomorrow (we haven't been invited - understandably). So she is bowling up here within the hour, asked my daughter to help her get her little girl ready, asked if she can do a load of washing, p**s off to the party, come here to sleep and pee off again in the morning. My OH (her OH was his brother - now deceased), has OK'd all of this (without asking me) but has committed to a choral performance this evening and hasn't been here all day.

    My day has comprised
    getting DS organised for football
    Watching the football
    doing the weekly shop
organising DD to have a passport type photo taken (no easy task that, trying to find the photo booth)
    Sorting out lunch
Sorting a load of washing in order to free up machine for SIL
    Unpack and put away shopping
    Strip and remake 2 beds
    Cook tea
TIdy up room for SIL, and DS room for 2 kids
Organise bed for DS on the floor of our room
    Wash up tea
Go and watch first half of choir performance as OH says he wants me to
Go to party that i now don't want to bloody go to.
    :mad::mad::mad::mad:

    Rant over.

No it isn't - i'm feeling used and abused at the moment, when OH sets his mind to do something (for him) then everything else goes out the window and will sulk like a 2 year old if he can't get his own way.

Tomorrow I am having a couple of hours for me which will involve face masks and hair dye and a bath full of hot water a glass full of wine and a magazine :D

Oh God bless my DD who has undertaken to strip and make up beds :A

    As you were....

Anything with INLAWS in the sentence needs no explaining to me ;)

Thanks for the advice on the chooks. We have four cats which may be a problem but just found out that SIL (only exception to inlaw rule) his dad has chickens and gets feed etc cheap from his farmer friends. Will look into it further.

Had a few good finds at the jumble yesterday. Spent £6 but I got a sack full of thingermebobs :D Three maxi dresses for summer which I have put away because they are so expensive even in charity shops when it is summer. A few other frocks that I bought on the off chance DD may like but her turned up nose told me they are destined for ebay :rotfl: Just struggling to get it all dry.

I am after one of those 60s wicker shopping baskets and have asked every charity shop in a ten mile radius. DH is not impressed as he said I will look bonkers :p I personally don't think a basket can do any more damage to my reputation :rotfl::rotfl:

I must get the cat pen wood treated today so I am hoping it's not going to be too cold. Only had three hours kip due to the sciatica playing up so may burn out quickly.

A quick question, a new recipe I'm trying has tapenade in it. Never heard of it, where would I find it in the shops, what is it and would it be a problem if I missed it out?
    Thanks

Thanks for the info and link. Not sure I'll make it as I don't have any of those ingredients in. At least I know now.

I popped a potato in each of the DDs stockings last year having told them that if he puts a potato in there, he has replaced a present that they would have got... I had forgotten about it until recently when they were chattering to eachother about Father Christmas and then starting roaring with laughter when they remembered the potatoes and wondered if they were going to get any this year :rotfl: It has NOT had the desired effect but is still funny... I am going to do it again this year anyway!! They are only 5!
