Yup, doesn't get light here until nearly 8am at the moment.0

Also sleeping with the curtains open in most parts of the country means it never gets completely dark at night. Apparently it is important to sleep in the dark for health reasons (there is plenty of data on the web for those who doubt me, but I'm busy so CBA to link to it). Personally I prefer to sleep with the curtains open but am reluctantly complying with the sleep in darkness thing in the face of some pretty good evidence as to the benefits.0

Afternoon everyone
I figure that before 5pm still counts as afternoon.
I hope you are feeling better now shegar
Today I've cleaned and tidied the bedroom to clear a space for the V+ box to move up there next week, cleaned the kitchen, done enough laundry to kit out a football team, knitted 7 inches of a scarf for my DFIL and entered tons of advent competitions. I did get a giggle when I was trying to clean up the mess that is known as DH's side of the bed. I'd forgotten about his stash of '80s p*rn and had a laugh looking at n*ked ladies with hairy bits and real boobs. It's completely different now and a reminder of DH's teenage self. :rotfl:
It also made me feel a bit better about my wobbly bits and bottom that seems to expanding daily.
I'm hoping DH gets home at a reasonable hour so that we can go to Sainsburys. He is on call until next Friday morning, so there is no telling when he will be home and awake.
I think I'm in the mood for tuna and sweetcorn pasta bake for dinner. I have enough tins of Sainsburys basic tuna to make enough for the street, so need to use up some of the stash. DS1 won't be happy as he doesn't like it, but tough. He can have leftover chicken curry from last night or find something in the freezer.
I'm trying to decide what to do next Thursday as it is the 26th anniversary of my Dad's death. The day always knocks me for six and I feel the need to go out and do something rather than sitting home by myself. I might go and see Arthur Christmas or Hugo or just for a wander around town. It's amazing how after so long the pain can still be so vivid and fresh and raw. I wonder how my life would have turned out if he was here. Being an Atheist is tough sometimes when all I want is to know that I'm going to see him again. All I know is that if I'm wrong and there is an afterlife my Dad is sitting in a pub somewhere waiting for me to get a round in.
Sorry to get so maudlin......take care everyone xxxx0 -
I had to have a cortisone injection in my achilles tendon years ago. I think I was lucky because the actual injection was just about bearable, it was just the after effects which were really painful - the cortisone starting to do its work.
My DH has had to have cortisone in his elbow a couple of times and I've never seen anyone look so grey afterwards - he said it was agony. He's had tennis elbow since then, but has refused to have another cortisone injection. Luckily it does seem to (eventually) right itself (though it does take many months).
Well im glad to say 24 hrs atfer injection the pain as eased off slightly when walking, im still in crocs, but hopefully they will get a bit more better........ In the past Ive had cortizones in my wrists, elbows several times, both shoulders, fingers but never had so much pain as the foot, never mind if it feels better and does good its worth it..........I ended up having an operation for tennis elbow after having 5 injections they just didnt work in the end, and 2 operations on the shoulders ,elbows better since the op.............
Well I didnt feel like putting the decorations up today , I will see how I feel in the next few days/weeks, have any of you together got your tree etc up yet ??...........
Weve got a drought here, we just dont get much rain at all, my garden is very dry, in fact its like sand grains .......We do need a wet winter to help the water situation next year...........
I hope your all okay and healthy and keeping your chins up........:)0 -
Now for the bad news, Ibooked a cortizone injection with my Dr last week for my planta faciitis in my feet and the appointment came at 4.50 today, well ive never had so much pain with a injection in my body ever:eek::eek::eek::eek:Dam I shouted out to the dr, I truthfully expect the Dr in the next room must have heard me, and im not a wimp and im use to injections cos im diabetic I do it 4 times daily..........and my poor foot bled, I just hope it was worth it cos I dont think I can go through that again,I was warned by quite a few people that its very painful to have.........Well im glad to say 24 hrs atfer injection the pain as eased off slightly when walking, im still in crocs, but hopefully they will get a bit more better........ In the past Ive had cortizones in my wrists, elbows several times, both shoulders, fingers but never had so much pain as the foot
Ohhhhhh Shegar .... ouch - you have my biggest sympathies.
I had multiple cortizone injections directly into the nerves in my foot for the past couple of years and I can honestly say every one was agony - hopefully now I've had the surgery I won't ever need one again!
I've also had them into the ligaments in my ankle (other leg!) and although uncomfortable, these are a piece of cake compared to the foot......
However, even with the pain of having it / the next few days, it was worth it (until I was sitting waiting for the next one!) to get relief from the pain everyday once they took effect - hope it settles down soon & you get some relief.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Those injections sound horrific. I feel for those of you who have needed them. It makes me realise how much I take my own health for granted sometimes.
I am currently sporting a bruised face though - when I went along to the kettlebells class I expected a tough workout. I didn't realise how sweaty my hands would get and the kettlebell slipped and skiffed by face. I'm glad it wasn't harder - I've got a nice shiny purple cheekbone as it is. I'm not a make up girl so I'll just have to put up with the looks. Hubby isn't too happy though- we're off out tomorrow night and he is convinced people will think he's thumped me!
No bargains for me today although I did root through a pile of Mr A receipts the other day and ran them through the price guarantee site so I had 7 vouchers to use. They ranged from 7p to a £5 voucher but it helped so I was quite pleased with that today.
I was thinking of making some home made flavoured vodka for gifts - would I still have enough time before Christmas? I saw lots of raspberrys reduced today and did think about it.
It's absolutely freezing here now - I still had frozen puddles at lunchtime and the temperature is dropping like a stone now. We're off to a silver wedding tonight - I'm loathe to wear a little dress and thin tights but I keep reminding myself it will be hot in the hotel once things get going.
have a good evening all -stay warm:)0 -

What a difference being on the opposite side of the UK makes. My chickens are wading around in their field and I've lost count of the number of times I've almost gone ar5e over t*t skidding in the mud up there! :rotfl:
Hope your foot's feeling better soon.0 -
I'm the same here GV, we had to lay a drain in the henpen yesterday it was so bad. It helped a bit and then I put straw on top. Today its better, white frost and frozen. Forecast cold winds and snow for sunday/monday.0

So blinkin tired tonight and I don't know why........big yawn.
Is there any chicken lovers on here tonight please
DH has a friend at work who is moving to Scotland and does not want to take his chickens with him so he has asked us if we would like them.
How do you look after chooks?
How much are vet bills/ do they need inoculations?
How much does it cost to feed them?
On what do you feed them?
Does it cost more to look after them than the eggs cost in the shop?
Anything else I need to know?

There's a huge "lets keep chickens" thread on here somewhere. I got two in March and love them, wish I'd had them years ago. Tons of eggs and still laying now. Mine are in a netted pen with a big cosy coop and they just potter around in there digging , and they "sunbathe" on the coop roof. Feed is £6 a sack, and they like their greens
Also there's a fabulous wee forum called "Down the Lane" thats full of chickeny stuff.
