Frugal I have done that for the last few years too, it hasnt worked with the boys although DS13 no longer brags that obviously he still got everything on his list so he hadnt been that bad (when in fact he had been awful) but DD5 was chatting to the cat this morning and asked her if she was good or would santa bring her potatoes this year!! So its obviously had some effect - and I have shared the tip with the ASD support group and they are all trying it this year too. Maybe if it gets around enough it will become more effective. :)

    Debt-free and Proud!
Hi all... been a bit busy but have just about caught up with it all...

Hubby has been at the lotties getting it all ready for winter..and he picked our first sprouts..and they are lovely..yummy i love sprouts.
I have had a few mad baking sessions, cakes and mince pies..been having more clear outs..toys and such to make room for the little project due next year lol..hubby's nickname for bump..no bump yet though.

Have been doing christmas things with tots..usually ending up with snow and glitter all over the place..and the poor hoover ends up being used at least 3 times a day..

I went shopping this morning with 2 of my older girls and they treated me to a lovely hot choclate..we went to B&M..they have lots of bits and toys all reduced to half price or less..was surprised and did spend some money but it was grandchildrens presents and they are done now so glad i went.
I have been making more scented pillows and cushions for pressies too, finished the scarves and have started on 3 baby blankets..all pure white with beautiful wool..
Have got to find somewhere else to keep my stock of emergency food as its in spare room at the moment..did anyone buy the under bed storage boxes with lids..are they any good and can you get lots in them...
Right got to go..tots are painting with glitter paint and think its just gone with a plop..so my carpet will be nice and colourful and sparkle when the sun does shine...lol
    love to you all

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Afternoon all.

It's a miserable old day in Portsmouth today - grey and chilly and windy. :( I've been fighting the urge to put up my Xmas decs - it's far too early for me, really - and finally compromised and put up my snowflake window stickers. I'm telling myself that they're winter decorations, not Christmas decorations, and therefore don't count. (Shh, don't spoil it for me! ;))

lucielle - I'd be interested to know what recipe you're making with the tapenade - I love the stuff and I'd really like to have something else I could use it in. :)

A question I've been meaning to ask of any crafty people on here - does anyone know where you can buy small quantities of candle wick? I've got a scented candle which I bought and proved to have a faulty wick, which means it won't light. The manufacturer sent me some vouchers to replace it but, needless to say, I can't find one the same scent now. I'd like to try and replace the wick on the one I've got, rather than just throwing it away - any ideas, anyone?
Back after a very long break!

Having a moan - ignore if you wish

My SIL is coming any moment now with her 2 kids. She is coming to go to her sister's birthday party (we've been invited too), and then to a family party tomorrow (we haven't been invited - understandably). So she is bowling up here within the hour, asked my daughter to help her get her little girl ready, asked if she can do a load of washing, p**s off to the party, come here to sleep and pee off again in the morning. My OH (her OH was his brother - now deceased), has OK'd all of this (without asking me) but has committed to a choral performance this evening and hasn't been here all day.

    My day has comprised
    getting DS organised for football
    Watching the football
    doing the weekly shop
organising DD to have a passport type photo taken (no easy task that, trying to find the photo booth)
    Sorting out lunch
Sorting a load of washing in order to free up machine for SIL
    Unpack and put away shopping
    Strip and remake 2 beds
    Cook tea
TIdy up room for SIL, and DS room for 2 kids
Organise bed for DS on the floor of our room
    Wash up tea
Go and watch first half of choir performance as OH says he wants me to
Go to party that i now don't want to bloody go to.
    :mad::mad::mad::mad:

    Rant over.

No it isn't - i'm feeling used and abused at the moment, when OH sets his mind to do something (for him) then everything else goes out the window and will sulk like a 2 year old if he can't get his own way.

Tomorrow I am having a couple of hours for me which will involve face masks and hair dye and a bath full of hot water a glass full of wine and a magazine :D

Oh God bless my DD who has undertaken to strip and make up beds :A

    As you were....

    *UPDATE

She's done 2 loads of washing which she's left me to dry, Breezed out for lunch saying she'd be back for tea and is now staying the night. . Meaning that we have to get up at 5.30 - 6.00 in morning to make sure she gets the kids to school in time as its a 2 hour drive.:(

Is it me - or is this unreasonable?

VJsmum - definitely unreasonable, how is she getting back? Also how will her kids cope with such an early start, long journey then full day of school on top? Maybe you can make the point that you feel its not fair on the kids and they would be better going tonight after dinner?

What a flaming cheek! She surely must have planned to do washing and stay the night at your house, to have it all with her!

I would not be putting up with that really, I would have to say something. I would deff find a reason why she can't stay. Some people are the giddy limit!!!

I got some candle wick on ebay very cheap, and you can buy small amounts. Hope this helps

No - I've got to put up with it. Said i thought it was a tough thing to do in the morning for the kids, but she said it would be fine! I'm afraid she has always been very "act now think later", I love her to bits really and she has had the toughest few years of anyone i know, so i have to just get on with it.

THanks for listening to me vent..

Is this her kids getting to school? If so then my vie would be she can ruddy well get on with it herself. If she's big enough and ugly enough to have 2 kids then she can be responsible for them. If they are late for school it's not your problem.

Tell her to make sure the door is locked when she lets herself out:D

sorry if that seems a bit extreme but she sounds like too many people I've experienced over the years and I'm now going through a zero tolerance stage:)
