Bonnie, I only started knitting in July! I am learning as I go with the help of t'internet and several panicked phone calls to my big sister! Ravelry is a very good source of information too. So far, I have made 1.5 cardigans and a blanket. My sister gave me loads of yarn so intend to make some arm warmers and gloves and things too but it's having the time to do it isn't it?
The yarn I'm using is artesano inca cloud 100% baby alpaca in chive. I'm still not sure about the colour but if I don't like it when it's done, DD can have it!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
Oooh perhaps I can manage it then
I'll do a bit of research so I have knitting-related present ideas for Christmas or my birthday in the spring. This will my 'new skill to learn/develop' for 2012. Thanks for the inspiration :T

Sorry to go OT but has anybody seen Mint Jelly anywhere? I have looked at local MrT and MrS and neither of them have it. Them Mum asked me if I saw any could I get her some as she can't find it
I like it with ALL roast dinners and I have run out of my stocks of itMint sauce is just not the same.
(now I know I 'could' make it if it gets to the point of emergency but i'd rather buy it)0 -

We were chattinga bout food at MiL's yesterday and DH was saying to BiL and SiL that if we have a stew it'll do days. SiL said she made a stew with 1.5kg of beef and it did them 2 evenings for the 4 of them  . They looked horrified at how little meat we have. Tonight I used 400g beef mince to make a chilli. There's another nights worth of food left for Wednesday. I don't think we're stingy though?
Here's what I used; 1 tin tomatoes. 6 large tomatoes (were in fridge going soft. Don't like getting salad stuff in veg box at this time of year, when do you use it?), 1 large leek, 1/2 bunch of celery, 1 takeaway tub of home cooked kidney beans and 1 of chick peas, 1 tin of water, 2tsps chilli powder and some gravy to thicken (did it in the pressure cooker as ran out of time (again!).
For the rice, I did 2 cups rice. There was loads.
I don't think any of that is an unhealthy amount of anything, we were all full up enough after tea. DH had a second helping as he'd missed lunch. It was probably cheaper than him having sarnies and better for him!
How much mince would you guys use for a chilli?Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -

Do you want snow Shegar? I'll gladly send you mine - it's known in our household as "white sh*te" and isn't particularly welcome:D
On a serious note though it has panicked me into deciding I need to be pretty much finished my Christmas shopping this weekend in case things get out of hand. I feel a trip to Costco coming on.
I need to check our heating oil tomorrow as I'm concerned we may run low and we are still on the hunt for a generator for back up. We've already had 7 power cuts in the last few weeks so it's becoming urgent. The problem is that our £2000/£2500 budget seems to be a quarter of they cost:eek:
I'm sitting here with a lemsip trying to fend off the sniffles. My mother lost the plot in Costco last year and bought trade packs so I have enough lemsip to treat most of Central Scotland - just as well the bb date is late 2013!0
