Minnie no it wasnt WW, it was a free website... what a horrendous day up here wasnt it?
It was horrendous indeed although I'm sure the deluge was welcomed by Strathclyde fire brigades's finest who had been battling the fire in the old Co-op building since yesterday. Another Glasgow landmark gone sadly.
The positive thing about the weather though was the apparent lack of charity muggers on Buchanan Street today - I made it out for a lunchtime stroll without being nabbed once - ever cloud has a silver lining!
Glas you found your calorie tracker - I promise to use my WW one as of tomorrow since I'm paying for it. (there, now it's recorded for posterity I'll have to darn well do it!)
just in case anyone is feeling flush - Asda have 1kg Lurpak spreadable for £3. A bit of a luxury (and a huge tub) but a good price0 -
Back in one piece :j
Arrived at the station and parked literally at the steps thanks to DS' BBadge and mistakenly paid for the spot only for a lovely station man to refund the money as we didn't need to pay
It was really straightforward after I'd worked out the ticket machine lol.
Straight thru no steps for DS2 and into a black cab the other end door to door.
Clinic was running late as always so we ended up coming home after 6.30 but the train was still packed!
Rang a local cab firm who picked us up at the hospital within 10 mins to return to the station and only had to wait 10 mins for the train home.
My son said it was actually less painful sitting in the train seat than in the car for 3+ hours and Dad never got a migraine for once :rotfl:
So a HUGE thankyou to all who helped with my journey it may not seem a lot to most people but it was a massive achievement for DS2
Need to go flake out now Xmas tree is going up tomorrow as all the kids are home and Dads day off will catch up after that

I'm pleased you got there and back ok D&DD. Good of them to refund you the money too, it's nice when a plan comes together isn't it?!
I've just got back with DS (age 7) from the picket lines. It was bitterly cold out there and he did very well. From the amount of people driving past and tooting their horns, it seems that support is directed towards us so fingers crossed that con-dem propaganda hasn't swayed public opinion to far against us. The money is there in the pension pot but they want to use it elsewhere. IMHO, that's as bad as theft.
Ended up having ham egg and chips last night for tea. It was delicious! So cauliflower/broccoli cheese and pasta for tonight. My school isn't striking so its BAN for us
D&DD Glad the train trip went smoothly. How is DS?
I am having an early lunch of HM leek and potato soup and it is scrummy! I think I am going to live off soups this winter! The DDs have cooked lunch at school so HM soup and maybe some HM wedges will be cheap and filling for them as DD1 seems to have hollow legs atm.
ETA I totally forgot to say that I stored my leeks in the plastic packaging with the top snipped off, in a cool dark place and they carried on growing an extra 8 inches over the last couple of weeks :rotfl::rotfl: - btw they are 49p in Aldi super6 atm so I am going to get more, and grow them on too :money:
The Covent Garden pumpkin soup was amazing so I am going to get the recipe from the website and make it one of these days.
My cooking and baking bug has come back :j Which is good news for both the bank account and the diet! No more relying on eating out, takeaways (neither of which I can afford) and carp at home for dinner :T Quite fancy making some shortbread but that is NOT good for the diet so I will resist and make something yummy, that I won't eat, for the DDs to snack on when they get home from school.
Blue skies and not a cloud in sight here! After yesterdays howling winds I wouldn't have believed it.0 -

Much as I don't wish to, this needs a response.
I don't think children should be dragged into adult politics when they don't fully understand what's going on. I hate seeing children on picket lines and demonstrations having been obviously coached in their chanting.
As for stealing from pension pots, what about the private pensions which were raided by Gordon Brown leaving people with far less than they expected. That really was theft. Not to forget the later retirement age for those in the private sector.0 -
I know this is off topic but couldn't resist posting as I know lots of you have dogs or have had dogs in the past and will identify with this poor owner! Funniest thing I have seen all year I think so for anyone who is feeling down, have a laugh on me

Sorry not seeing the humour here-there notices all over Richmond park about dog being kept under control - more luck than judgement that a deer didn't get killed by the cars or worse a child get caught up in the stampede.
Yes I know I am a grump sorry but out of control dogs are a bug bear of minePeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I very much doubt it was deliberate. I suspect the dog slipped its lead or something and yes, it was lucky that nobody/animal got hurt and if they had I wouldn't have posted. But they didn't, so I think its hilarious0 -

Whilst I have my own views on this whole thing (and they are very strong) I will make them to the people concerned. This is NOT the place for a discussion which runs the risk of degenerating into the kind of nastiness which we have previously seen on these forums.
If people wish to have a discussion on the current situation I suggestit be taken to a more appropriate forum before the thread becomes a public battle ground and is ultimately shut down0 -
I'm still a fair bit behind but was just looking at the weather some of our peeps are having ATM isn't it weird how much it differs from oop there to down here?? I am still getting washing dried out on the line!
