Oh bobbykins sending hugs - having recently had a similar experience with our cat I can appreciate how hard it is.
We have a house guest arrived today - my friends cat ( who was originally a kitten from our litter), my friend is staying with friends while she recovers from an accident and has been away for three weeks already and likely to be away until new year. A neighbour has been feeding kitty but kitty is not a happy bunny as it were and has taken to attacking neighbour!! As the house is being sold the estate agents are showing the house and have insisted house be pet free too.
And realistically I think its cruel to keep her locked in empty house for months so I have agreed to take her. She arrived earlier and my two boys (her brothers) have pretty much ignored her, one tried to wander over - she hissed, he gave up and went back to sleep!! She is still sitting in her cage. DD5 is off school so trying to persuade her out - patience is not one of DD strong points, she is offering all sorts of bribes - if you get out of the cage you can choose the next TV program:rotfl:
Think fur will fly when she eventually ventures out of cage.
OH is off work ill today - yet more money lost, and showing no signs of being well enough to go in tomorrow either. I feel like we are haemoraging (sp) money at the moment.
Managed to use SC to make a meal last night - only a basic rissotto but was so nice to have some veg. Am seriously considering attending the wedding tomorrow as its a carvery - and the idea of a proper dinner with meat and veg makes my mouth water:rotfl:0 -
Bobbykins - sending hugs your waySorry to hear that Bobbykins
Enjoy your time with him xx
Lizzyb and anyone else using Vit D - How much are you taking a day pls?
My tabs are 200% of RDA and bottle says to take 1 or 2 a day - I'm taking 4 so 800% RDA. I did quite a bit of research and the general consensus seems to be that lots of people are Vitamin D deficient and larger doses are needed to get basal levels up. I know some people take much bigger doses than I do. I also do my dog walking in the middle of the day to get any sunlight going and I have a SAD light which I'm not using yet as I don't feel the need for it.
I do feel that if anyone is thinking about taking any supplements they should research them first, especially if they are taking any form of medication."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -
I posted about vitD on the winter thread frugal

Please excuse me while I do this, but I've had some very good news
YEAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
I've won £1,000!!!! On the Anchor Butter Facebook competition. I've still shaking and I think the lovely lady that phoned me will be suffering from hearing loss in one ear, but I've won.
This is how I looked when I put the phone down :j:j:j
That is a huge chunk of the credit card bill I can stop worrying about. It's a wonderful early Christmas present.
I think I might put a bottle of something fizzy and alcoholic in the shopping trolley tonight0 -
That is fantastic news SDG!!!! Congratulations and enjoy it! x0

Brilliant news SDG, well done.
I think the nice lady at electrolux call centre is probably as disturbed by my call today as your Anchor Butter lady, I called as my DW wasnt working (only 11 months old) and she expertly talked me through a reset that fixed it - I then burst into tears when I realised it was working.:o0 -
SDG - how fantastic - That'll be karma for you!
Kidkat - you've given me a lovely image of a cat with the remote!!!
Been to the second one today of an Early Years Support Workshop. It's been absolutely fantastic with loads of really good information and strategies for getting help with support for DD's mobility and other needs. All the materials we've been given are going to be really useful, it's supposed to be being rolled out all over the country as support for parents of under 5s with additional needs so if anyone out there is looking for help with an under 5 ask your HV about it. Also met some lovely people both running the course and attending, have a bit of brain ache now though afe taking on so much info, will be glad when it's wine o'clock later!0 -
Congratulations FTM!!
One cat inna tree is mildy annoying by the way, but two cats leads to disaster. I'm dreading putting the tree up this year - it spent a lot of time lying on the floor last Christmas, sigh!0 -
I have to share my bargain with you all.
I was doing some Christmas shopping, and noticed in Millets that they had some Regatta walking poles on BOGOF, so I decided to get two (one each for OH and DD1). So it should have been £24.99 for two. However when it was rung up it said £11.99 for two, so I decided to get another two so they could have two each (apparently it's better walking that way), so I've got 4 walking poles for less than the price of one originally :T:T
They also had some childrens fleecy gloves reduced from £4 to £1, so I got two pairs for my DD2 (she's very likely to lose one). I was told that if I bought two I would get one free, so I got another pair. The final price for those was not £2, but £1.20, so I got them for 40p a pair :T0 -
I'm pleased to say that my mog hasn't the slightest interest in the Xmas tree once it's up, although he does like 'helping' to put the decorations on in the first place.
One of the cats my family had when I was a kid was a great tree-climber, though, and one year managed to pull the tree over on top of my grandmother, who was having a peaceful doze on the sofa!
SDG - that's really fantastic news - how nice to have a pleasant bit of news to start the weekend.
Bobbykins - I'm so sorry. I hope you have a fantastic weekend to look back on.Back after a very long break!0
