Strange Phobias

I HATE bellybuttons - urgh, I can't look at one or touch one. I have to wash mine in the bath with a sponge and my eyes screwed shut. My DH, DD & DS think its hilarious to talk about belly button fluff and stick their fingers in theirs - oh God I could be sick just writing this. I really struggled with both of my kids when they were babies before their umbilical cord stumps fell off - I had to get DH to wash and dry them.Mortgage Aug 22 £280,000

Another emetophobe here. I can't cope if other people are sick and go to great lengths so that I'm not ill (I haven't been sick for over 25 years). I nearly had a panic attack in M&S just before Christmas because a kid was sick by the escalators upstairs and I couldn't go past to get out of the shop and away from it (fortunately I was by the lift and could make my escape). If my husband has a drink he sleeps in the spare room because I wont sleep if there's any possibility that he'll be sick. I don't want children and I think the possiblity of morning sickness and having to look after them if they are sick plays a part in that, although it's not the only reason.0

I can't bear the sound of other people eating! You know when you're sitting round the table and it's quiet, all I can hear are eating/chewing sounds - makes me want to throw up!Christians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0

The buzz of any flying insect (I saw a bee fly into my brother's ear at the age of 3); having my face in water (got stuck underwater when I was about 6). Are they phobias or just a logical response mechanism? :rotfl:They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.0

I've read through the last four pages or so but havn't found mine yet
Although I agree with slugs and snails. Buttons are by far the worst thing ever
I can hardly bear to look at them, but can't stop myself all the same.
OH wears a polo shirt for work  I have to really turn my head away when we hug in the morning before he goes to work, and if the buttons clank on the washing machine as I'm putting them in for washing
I just about manage to hang them on hangers in the wardrobe but can't do them up!!
Can just about manage with the metal type button on the top of jeans, and the button on womens trousers on the inside of the waist.
Good job I'm a girl really and don't have to wear shirtsI'd avoid a job where I had to wear a uniform for this reason.

My little girl has got me to read the things that people are frightene of, and she is laughing at some of them. She wanted me to post that she is scared of spiders and jack-in-the-boxes. She is 5, so loads of time to develop loads more phobias ha ha.0

I can't stand pylons. I had to walk (or rather sprint!) under one a couple of weeks ago and I started shaking and crying, it was quite embarrassing as I was on my own! I'm absolutely petrified that one of the cables will snap and kill me. I hate going underneath them in cars or trains too, I have to shut my eyes and stick my fingers in my ears. I've no idea where I've got that phobia from as I've never had a bad experience with a pylon, don't remember ever reading about pylons killing people... very strange.0
