things is that when Microsoft say please update to IE9 you get people who will do this as they think they have too, but other things like Adobe and internet banking have not caught up yet and wil not work with IE9.
and sometimes older computers dont have the resources to work properly with MS updates.

rather than get a new computer, get a new updated graphicas card, new memory and get a DVD rewriter, replace your graphics card and memory and then remove your cd drive and replace with dvd drive and thius should sort our your problems and will be cheaper than a new computer.

my dell dimesions lasted 10 yrs just updating until i replaced this for my business. my dimension is still being used by the kids for general surfing and homework

it's the black thing at the top, if you don't have one, they are easy to fit and don't cost much

other options are copy the photos to a usb or external hard disk, copy to laptop, and write a disk from there

if you have IE9 when you have this open look in the top right hand corner and under the X button you will see what looks like a cog wheel, open this andf look for 'about internet explorer' this will tell you what version you are running.

but if your computer is 5 yrs old i would consider upgrading to what i stated earlier, this will extend the life of your computer.
