Just ignore the invoice and further threat-o-grams. If a pig flies over the moon and they actually take you to court, they will only be able to claim for what the landowner has lost, which in a case of a free car-park is...

    ...Nothing.

Most likely they use CCTV cameras wired up to flag up any vehicles staying longer than the so-called "free" time, motorway services should have free parking 24 hours a day, regardless how long the vehicle stays there. When was the last time you saw a motorway (or dual-carriageway) services car-park more than half-full?

I would send copies of all the demands to TL Hq for the attention of the CEO, and ask if this was how their customers are usually treated,

So if the OP got a letter from CP Plus threatening legal action, would it say "billstickers will be prosecuted"?

    yeah, I'll go now.....
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

I have just found this on a website called Motorway Services Online:-

    http://motorwayservicesonline.co.uk/Parking

    Isn't this just profiteering?
To an extent it is - there's no need to monitor the number of free spaces overnight, and most of the people who do park there will be staying for several hours. If you believe the operators, then these charges are necessary to pay for the upkeep - see the pricing page. The Highways Agency have suggested that services allow free overnight parking.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • Wouldn't it just be simpler to charge all cars £1 for parking and use of the toilets. Everyone then knows upfront what the cost is and there is no intrusion on privacy or ill will created against traders?
I guess there would have to be a time limit - say 8 hours - and applied with sensible discretion - surely no-one would want to stay for longer than this.

If TIREDNESS KILLS what is the cost to the state of the emergency services attending a motorway accident
If TIREDNESS DOES NOT KILL why is lots of money being wasted in putting this message across

Forget the Whitfield Street address - its just their registered office. How about:

    10 Flask Walk
    London
    NW3 1HE

    Tel: 020 7431 4001
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com
