  • In keeping with my previous post on the legal definition of "month".

"...reference to a 'month' in a statute is to be understood as a calendar month. The Interpretation Act 1978 says so. ... It is equally well established...that when the relevant period is a month or a specified number of months after the giving of a notice the general rule is that the period ends on the corresponding date in the appropriate subsequent month, ie the day of that month that bears the same number as the day of the earlier month on which the notice was given."

Importantly, this decision set out the principles which apply throughout the law, not merely to tenancy law.

My completion date was 24/11/11 and my wages are paid on the 26th of each month. However in December I was paid a little earlier for Christmas, this would'be been before 24/12/11 then this month the 26th fell on Sunday so my wage went in on Friday - 24/02/11 so going by what others have said I could have a problem? If so that's ridiculous when my wage is being paid into the account!

I did 2 each month to be sure, so 1 £800 around the 10th and another around the 20th just to make sure.
  • Got mine today. I was an existing customer, so already had my £800 going in, but did move a couple of DDs to the account to qualify.

Very happy anyway with Co-op bank, and now this. Thanks, Co-op! That totals £300 (£100 originally) from them, and never had any problems with them at all.

When people pos that they've got theirs could they also post their completion date and payment dates please?
  • I have rung this morning to find out when the cashback would be in my account. My date of transfer (I assume this is the same as date of completion) was 16/11, so she said the date of cashback would be 16/03.

I originally had to pay £800 into my account by 16/12, so the months look like they run from date of transfer, so mine were:
    Month 1 17/11 - 16/12 (£800 in)
    Month 2 17/12 - 16/01 (£800 in)
    Month 3 17/01 - 16/02 (£800 in)
    Month 4 17/02 - 16/03 (£200 cashback :j)
    Hope this helps!

Got a feeling I'm not going to get mine. My completion date was 24/11/12

    Payment 26/11/12
    Payment 21/12/12
    Payment 26/01/12
    Payment 24/02/12

So two payments there that aren't after the 24th. I just rang to see about when I'll get my £200 abnd they said people that are elligible for it have started being paid, they can't tell whether I'll get it until it either gets paid, or I get a letter saying I am not elligible! I explained that I cannot dictate when my wages are paid and had I known this would have been a problem I'd have simply withdrawn £800 and paid it back in but they said I may still get it yet, wait and see over the next few weeks

My gut instinct tells me I'm not getting it
