  • I have just received my 'you are not eligible' letter from the co-op my account was activated on the 10th of nov and I transferred my first £800 on the 10th of nov. apparantly the transfer had to be done 'following the date' of activation. Just wonder if this has caught anyone else out?? I will be closing this now obviously!!

As far as I know, it's "following the date of completion", not "activation". You date of completion is probably about one month after opening the account, so, if you've made only two £800 transfer, that's where your problem lies...

BTW: my date of completion is 18/11 and still no bonus here...

Did you only make two £800 payments in total (including the one on the 10th of Nov)?

    Thanks,

Umm this is what is says in the letter i got origionally:-

'we have contacted the DD companies with your new account details.....so all payments should be transferred by 10/11/12'

'as a thank you ...we will reward you with £200. To benefit from the limited offer you must pay in at least £800 into your account every month for three months following the date given above'

What the customer service lady has just said is that i should have paid in on the 11th not the 10th. I have made subsequent payments each month to date so have made more than 3 BUT they argue that i didnt make a payment in november AFTER the 10th (which i did not make any more november payments other than the 10th).

Pays to read the small print over and over again I guess!!

ah ok, that's what I called "completion date". If you have done payment monthly I think this is really ridiculous! You should try to complain!

I've just had the same letter. My completion of switching date was 11 November, and I've definitely done EVERYTHING they ask. I've 'phoned them to complain, and said if I don't get my £200 I will be registering a complaint with the FOS. I've made £800 payments on the 18 Nov, 16 Dec, 16 Jan, 15 Feb. I can't believe the complaint wouldn't be upheld as I've done everything they asked, but even if the complaint wasn't upheld the Co-op would still have to pay £500 for the privilege of the complaint being investigated by the FOS. Bl**dy cheek!

Amazing! What did they say when you complained on the phone?

They said "they'd look into it". They can look all they like, if I don't get confirmation today, my complaint letter will be in the post tomorrow! I know they've got 8 weeks' after registering a complaint in which to resolve it, before the FOS will start investigating, but I'm prepared to wait .
  • Yeh, what did they say as all your credit payments are in the correct date span.

I haven't received my bonus yet either but my switch date was the 22nd Nov.
On top of the hassle people seem to be having, the CoOp gave me a counterfeit £20 over the counter 2 weeks ago! I took cash out, went two doors down to pay it into my Lloyds account and they picked it up straight away! The Coop branch initially would not help but did eventually give me another £20 note.

This shows the sillyness of some people.

You cant just register a complaint with FOS.

You have to complain in writing. Then reach deadlock/final response.

Get a grip you will get your money soon
