I can see some problems in 4 months time when people who switched for the bonus don't get it. What is worrying is that there's nothing in the online application form or the online switching form or the emails or the approval letter or the welcome pack to acknowledge that the customer may be doing it for the bonus, and is in line for the bonus subject to certain conditions being met.
"It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis
  • I've not heard anything despite applying last Monday. Worth me phoning?
  • Decided to take the plunge tonight after work to find the offer withdrawn... dooh.:p

Remember that the terms and conditions say that the £200 bonus comes within 4 months after filling the criteria, with the criteria including that £800 per month is paid in for three months. That means that the earliest that people can be 100% sure that they haven't got the bonus is 7 months from now.

But if anybody needs a screenshot of the terms and conditions from the website, including that it applies for people who applied online between 17th-21st October, I have it saved!
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

By your logic (which I'm not sure I agree with :)), 7 months is the latest date for payment, being as condition 9 states...

"A credit of £200 will then be paid into your account within 4 months of the above criteria being met."

However, I suspect we'll see the payments made in January or February, depending on whether you were able to make the first deposit in October or November respectively. I'm basing this on my reading of the T&Cs...plus what I was told in branch this evening.
  • Yorkshire, I love you. You've been about the boards for years and I've read many a useful post of yours.
You really are a 'diehard moneysaver' aren't you.
I bet you crawled over hot coals, to get in a branch in time for this.. Pensioners and small children flying.

See all, hear all, say nowt. Eat all, drink all, pay nowt..n if there's ever owt goin for now't.... then taik it......

Seriously, I have now't but rezpek for you having got in on this one..

You're right, it's definitely possible that people could get their bonuses in January, I never denied that. I was worried more for people who thought they were eligible for the bonus but actually aren't.

My fear is that if January or February comes around, and Joe Bloggs doesn't have his bonus yet, and he calls up the Co-op, he'll be told "sorry, four months haven't passed yet since your third payment. Call us back in May or June".

A lot of people won't be able to switch a salary payment before 30th November, so there'll be a lot of trouble if that's not acceptable.

Doesn't really matter to me. I'll set up an £850 s/o into it from my main account and then send £800 back a day or two later.

I was out of the country last week when the postal invite arrived. Saw Saturday morning on here, and the Co-op website, that the online offer had been pulled. Went straight to branch Saturday morning but the earliest they could 'fit me in' was this coming Thursday.

I then got a call from them this afternoon at work at 4pm saying they'd see me tonight at another branch (closer to work) if I could get there by 5pm, being as I'd initially made contact before they pulled the offer.

Impressed with the customer service. :)

On Monday 17/10, co-op start a limited offer - switch your banking to them using their switching service, pay in minimum of £800 per month then after the 3rd month they will credit your account with £200!
You must switch at least 2 direct debits, and this offer doesnt include the cashminder account.

I started the switch process on the 19th but was unable to complete it online however when I phoned them up i was told that it was now only for those who were able to access a branch of coop. As i dont live anywhere near one i explained this to them and was told that i could then apply for a coop membership and on giving then the number would still be eligible. i also received an application for throught the post which also added to the confusion since i had started the process online and the letter from them did not acknowledge this. After numerous phone calls I am no further forward and have just now come off the phone to their customer services having been told that as of close of business today the offer was off and they have absolutely no record of my having started the switch process. It has been confusing to say the least and time consuming as well as costly in phone calls. Am very annoyed with this bank and don't think it has helped customer relations in any way whatsoever!
