you can apply online if you are a COOP member
you can join the COOP online here (one-off cost is £1 deducted from your first dividend voucher)
http://www.co-operative.coop/membership/
https://www.secure.membership.coop/NewMember.aspx
you may obtain your COOP membership number immediately (I joined a long time ago so I am not sure if this is the case , although they do issue a new membership number immediately if you report a lost dividend card online)
Then enter your COOP membership number on the COOP Bank form onlineHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I haven't read through all the posts in this thread, and this is more about these bank switching offers in general, however if anyone can answer it I'd be quite grateful.
I've just switched over to Santander using the switcher for £100 (requires you to deposit £1000 per month). Switching over 3 direct debits from my existing Halifax account.
Is it possible for me to: Set up 2 new direct debits on the Halifax account (for a minimal amount, say to a relative (or even another of my own accounts) - then use the switching service with Co-op to gain a further £200 (requires £800 a month)?
And THEN, would I be able to sign up for the Halifax account that pays £5 per month (requires £1000 a month).
Say my salary after tax is around £1200 - this would be paid into my Santander account, I then transfer this to my Co-op account, then from there into my Halifax account.
Therefore I've paid the minimum amount into teach account for the month, and picked up some healthy cash on the way?
Or is there some rule in place to prevent this from happening?0 -
As long as what you do agrees with the T&Cs then I don't see why not.
However, if you have just opened a Santander account then you may find that attempting to open both a Halifax and Co-op account may fail. Each do a credit search and so it may set alarm bells off in the other bank.
It would be safer if you waited at least a month between applications, preferably more.0 -
I applied on-line for my new co-op acc and was approved, I noticed this info on another section of MSE -
'New Co-op Current Account Plus customers get a huge £200 sign-up bonus when they switch to it and pay in a salary of at least £10,700. However, you can't apply or operate the account online - only over the phone or via Co-op/Britannia BS branches.'
looks like many others have applied on line also so we will still get the £200 reward ? I never noticed the 'off line' condition when I applied.0 -
My account's open.
Can I assume the three months that require the £800 funding commence November?0 -

Well, there's a high chance the switch doesn't complete before November...
"All members - to qualify you must add your membership number into the application and switching forms and credit a minimum of £800 per month for the first 3 months from the date of your completed switch."
Thanks for reminding me it would be a good idea to keep a copy of the current contents of the relevant pagesEnjoy the silence...0 -

Actually, I just read the following:
"This offer is available online for existing Co-operative members only."
"If you are not a Co-operative member, you are still able to Get £200 by switching your main current account to us by applying in branch.".
So, that means the people who applied online and didn't enter their co-op membership number are not eligible for the £200 incentive. Uh oh. I sense a lot of unhappy people.
Maybe Martin was right...
Found that the T&Cs are still on the website: http://www.co-operativebank.co.uk/servlet/Satellite/1319179328190,CFSweb/Page/CFSCtplBlank
The above restriction isn't part of the T&Cs, but it is clearly displayed on the website.
Unless of course this is a different offer than last weeks offer. Maybe to stop so many people applying?0 -
.....so the £200 incentive has been withdrawn on-line (i.e. Friday 21/10/2011) but is the offer open re branchs till Wednesday 26/10/2011?....thanks Ed0

Wha.. what? Membership number? What is this?
You must be new here(And sorry for quoting the confusing part -
)
They changed the terms on the 21st - from that time (after 5PM only), online applications only qualify for the cash incentive if you are a coop member. They ask this number during the switch process. This is *not* a criteria those who applied earlier.
Others are welcome to do the application and switching in the branches in person.Enjoy the silence...0 -
Thats a relief! Thought I had done it all for nothing then!
(I'm not thanking you for stressing me out earlier)
