Glad I left this account open now, made a perfect switcher for the Nationwide ISA offer :)

Like many on this board, I switched account on the lure of £200. I phoned the bank last month and was also told the payment would be with me by the end of March.

No payment as of today so I phoned them. I was told that I do not qualify for the money because I didn't use the dedicated switching service, rather I switched all my payments by contacting the recipients directly.

I understand that this was one of the conditions (in the small print at least), but I still feel like I have been conned here as I met the spirit of the deal.

Has anyone else experienced this? Did anyone switch without the service and still get the £200.

As you can imagine I'm pretty hacked off with this and feel that the bank have conned me.

You've got to admit that it was stated clearly in the T&Cs that you used their own switching service - its been the same for every other banks offer. They don't want you switching just enough - they are after a full relationship type deal.

Hardly hidden in the small print. It was one of the headline conditions.
See post #30 of this thread for the original offer.

If you have followed the T&Cs - used switching service with DD and/or SO, 3 consecutive month transfer of £800 - you should get your cashback. Quote them their T&Cs!!

I did. Then the CS rep said ,a senior guy would get back to me on my mobile within 48 hrs. A month has passed since. So I've commenced the complaints procedure.

I did ask each rep I spoke (4 in total),to send me the T&Cs for which they all said they didn't have a copy!!!!

Although I've received my £200, in future i may do the following:

At the time of taking any offer out explain I'm illiterate and would like a copy of the terms and conditions in Audio CD format. Make sure there is a record of this (so it may take a phone call). Branch staff are notorious for breaking rules/promises; there's no call to record.

Knowing most companies, they'll fail miserably at this, meaning any argument about T&Cs should be an easy one...
