Okay after much activity yesterday I am planning a day of study today. As I predicted my tutor e-mailed me to tell me off (or remind me as he put it, but I knew what he meant) so I must bash on today

I have updated my speadsheet and checked my bank account and at the moment all looks well......16 days to payday
I met my NSD target for November yesterday and as I have no spending plans for today I might just exceed it :T I will have to think about how many I'm going to aim for in December, not many I think, although 25th & 26th should be easy
And I am obsessed with my electricity monitor
D'ya have any idea how much it costs to boil the kettle?
And cook the dinner? Salads and juice from now on :rotfl:
Logged onto my energy supplier account and I'm due a bill in the next couple of weeks so I must take my meter readings and submit them today. Then when they confirm my bill, I'll have a look to see if I can switch to get a better deal for a couple of months.
Ebay sales are going quite well, loads of watchers and bids on some higher priced stuff
(well, I say higher priced, what I means is more than 99p -lol)
So all is well in Freeby's MSE/DFW world for today

Righto *cracks knuckles* give us your essay title, and let's see if we can't at least one or two random words in the skeleton...;)
I notice we're getting the blustery wearther again - either that or the fir tree in the garden is in training for the limbo competition!
It's also very dark and cloudy - looks all 'act of God-y'...this may be my fault as I've stepped away from the chocolate for breakfast, and have opted for musli with skimmed milk instead. I'm awfully sorry, but hell may actually be freezing over out there....;)
Must say, I'm ever so impressed with your NSD work *grudgingly steps away from the race winner's podium...steals magnum of champagne on her way through* It's made me think about upping my target for December, even with the move and Christmas etc. so thanks for inspiring that.
Righto, off to boil the kettle for a cuppa - guess who hasn't fitted her energy monitor yet - can't be expected to greet the end of the world without a cup of tea first...it's simply not cricket.

Okay, so I submitted my meter reading for my gas.
Turns out I am £332 IN CREDIT!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!
What do I do now???????? Do I get the cash and start again with another supplier (assuming they let me) or do I use as it as a buffer for the winter.

I did a live web chat with a lovely man called Tom, he was most helpful. In fact I think I may ask him to marry me.
£300 winging it's way to my bank account as we speak/type/dance around living room :j:j:j:j
DDebit adjusted saving £15 a month :j:j:j:j

Hi Freeby,
What I did when I was that amount in credit was get all huffy and move on (through a cashback site of course). Then the original company contacted me asking why I was leaving and completely reduced my charges. Not my monthly bill (although that's obviously reduced), but my KWh charges. So I'm really happy about that.
A friend of mine had some days off last week and called around all of her suppliers saying she was considering leaving and how much notice do they need etc etc (phone, energy, tv etc) and has now cut her monthly bills by around £65 with all of their "please don't leave" incentives !!!!
So, I think you should find the deal you prefer online from whichever company, call your current company and ask them to beat it or you'll go (which will be no hassle for you as you have already done the leg work). If they do offer to beat it you know you've got the best deal you can get and that your energy company do value your custom?
Also - the reason I now know what my Kwh charges are is because when I initially moved, I did so under the excitement of a smaller monthly DD, but the actual energy prices were going to be higher!
I've also not put my heating on yet, so it's difficult to work out what my energy bills could really be this winter.
I hope that helps?0 -
Thank you MTops. My plan of action for the moment is thus.....
Get the money back into my account
Pay December & January at the new monthly dd and then start to look around in Jan/Feb for a new supplier.
I did do a quick search before I contacted my current provider and I have to say they are pretty competitive so I'm not losing anything by staying where I am for the moment.
How can you not have your heating on yet???????? You must be a very hardy sort :rotfl:Free by FiftyDebt of the Moment -August NSD Challenge 14/150 -
Now, I know that this money I'm being refunded should be going towards clearing my debt, but I still can't help being a little freaked out by Christmas
So, as per the original plan, I am still waiting to start my real debt busting ways in January. This £300 (or the majority of it) will still be waiting in my bank account then (maybe)

Can you identify what exactly is freaking you out about Christmas?0
-
I have now contacted Sky and asked them how much notice I have to give to cancel my account. I should point out here that I have no intention of closing my account, me and the cherubs like our telly
but I want to see if they offer me a deal for a few months. (via e-mail cos I'm a wimp)
Anything's worth a try
Ohhhhh I hope they don't just go ahead and close it anyway, I will have to run away cos my girlies would kill me :eek:Free by FiftyDebt of the Moment -August NSD Challenge 14/150 -
