Well blow me down (how polite am I?)
I finally gathered all my courage together and checked my credit file. This took a lot of guts.......I was so scared of knowing my credit score but it's time to face all the facts if I am to do anything about my debts.
Imagine my surprise (lol I sound like a cheap novel) when it says my score is at the high end of fair (849) and was 'satisfactory'
The relief is enormous, I'm not sure why because I sure as H3<< ain't looking for more credit but just knowing everything is satisfactory is like a little bit of the weight has been lifted off my burden.
Now the only thing to remember is to cancel it in 30 days

Quite right. Allow me to plink and plonk along on the piano *pretends she can play* and we can get the band going on your behalf.freebyfifty wrote: »D'ya know what? I am gonna blow my own trumpet now.
Darn tootin'! May I add a "Not only are you getting there, you're in control and you're running towards the finish line" :TSo for the first time in 10 years I am gonna give myself a little teeny weeny pat on the back and say 'You're getting there, keep going'
Now where's my cake?

Good Morning, thank you to everyone for their replies. I dunno what I'd do without you lot. You keep me going.
I didn't go out of the house again yesterday, I can't seem to shake this lurgy off. I WILL be going somewhere today. I HAVE to go to the bank (to put some money in
) and the post office, those poor people have waited quite long enough for their ebay parcels.
London tomorrow, leaving the house at 5am  to catch the early train and we should be in London for 9.30am. Then off to the hotel to dump our bags and then out for a mooch along Oxford Street and breakfast then a bit more mooching and then lunch then the theatre then dinner then the pub. Sunday will also involve much mooching and much eating. I have a friends Oyster card (is that the right word) so it's buses and tubes all the way
I don't plan on spending much (famous last words) but I have been instructed to bring back a Harrods cupcake for each of the girls. Might nip into Gr£ggs and get one for quarter of the price instead, they'll never know :rotfl:
4 days to payday and I have money in the bank, this is usually unheard of this close to payday but it may very well be a different story on Monday morning.
I have been searching like mad for Christmas prezzies on ebay and have a nice 'watch' list growing. So far I have 5 presents and not spent a penny out of my bank account - long may it continue.
If I think back to last year I can't remember what gifts I got never mind what I bought for someone else, apart from a gorgeous cashmere scarf I got for my mum that my DD1 is now wearing!!!! My mum told DD1 she could have it because she didn't like it!!!! She clearly forgot who bought her it
So this year I refuse to increase my debt simply for one day out of the whole year for prezzies that will probably end on ebay this time next year anyway
I'm rapidly turning into scrooge!

Morning Freeby
Hope you're feeling much more human.
Yep, that's the word. Unless it's a season ticket one, keep an eye on the balance (it'll usually show on the digital reader on the scanner when you use it) - they go down very quickly when you're hopping on and off the transport!freebyfifty wrote: »I have a friends Oyster card (is that the right word) so it's buses and tubes all the way
Plus, if the weather is dry, and you don't mind a walk, get yourself one of the local maps (cheapest are usually in the tube/train stations) as everywhere you're planning on going (with the slight exception of Harrods) is all within a fairly small area. And I say this as a very lazy walker!
Your hotel is right between where all the shopping areas (Regent's Street and Oxford Street etc) are, and your theatre. From your hotel, you just walk across the Mall, and across St James' Park (not as wide as it looks on the map, and very pretty by the lake) over towards Buckingham Palace and onto Victoria Street - your theatre is right next to Victoria Station.
Shopping-wise, Harrods is ok (did you know it has a price promise on all it's products?!), but you're right on top of Fortnum and Masons....*dribbles slightly*
If you're around Regent's Street and Oxford Street (they're joined, like a big L shape) then why not nip behind R-St and visit Liberty? Fab for a wander round (and they have loos in the basement if you're caught short!), but don't let your purse out of your bag!!
Probably, but the point is you have the money now - which is fab!4 days to payday and I have money in the bank, this is usually unheard of this close to payday but it may very well be a different story on Monday morning.
Bah, humbug!:DI'm rapidly turning into scrooge!

Ooo, even cheaper than buying a local map - just ask for one at the front desk of your hotel. It's a posh one, so they should have some already waiting for their guests.
A print out of the attached leaflet will also be useful if you don't know the bus and tube network: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround/15101.aspx0 -

I think I know where we are as we walked past the rear entrance of our hotel last year when we went to the "Lady Tottering" shop (as I call it) but I forgot about Fortnums - yum!
Thanks for your advice
