Good plan - it's about treating others as you'd want to be treated isn't it.freebyfifty wrote: »Speaking of ebay, I didn't get the parcels posted again yesterday so I sent them a message explaining the reasons why. It made me feel better to let them know I had a genuine reason for not posting and wasn't just being a lazy article!
Cheat!! I declare cheating! No good deliberately infecting yourself with the lurgey germs just to achieve your NSD target first....*wanders off to find someone with cold germs to snog*What else........oh yeah.......NSD number 7 yesterday. It's easy when you don't leave the house

Just been catching up on your diary sorry that you ended up with the lurgy - but nice boost to the nsd :0
You mentioned your small change pot and how to use them if you have self service tills at the supermarket you can put them in there saves bagging them and facing the bank teller HTH
Well done on the ebay sales I am bidding on 6 games for my littlies at the moment and if I get them anywhere near the current price (less than an hour to go) I will be a very happy bunny and they will be happy too

Thanks DT, that's exactly what I'm gonna do. Might take a while though because I'm not spending any money at the minute - I've no change to put in it - lol

Hello Freeby, I've spent today reading your diary and very enjoyable it was too.
You are pretty much where I was a few years ago, age, income, house value, single parent etc so i thought I'd chip in with some thoughts:
1. Regarding takeaways. Teenagers seem to think these are a basic necessity of life so we compromised on one a month at payday weekend. In between on Saturday nights we have home made takeaway food eg home made pizza and garlic bread, burgers (with all the trimmings) and chips, spare ribs and wedges, fajitas etc. It saves a fortune and I think is much nicer.
2. Keep the DDs on board, treat them regularly with home made cake, brownies, cookies etc. Costs hardly anything and stops them moaning (for a while).
3. After Christmas take one of the payments that you no longer need to pay to Freemans or Littlewoods or whatever and start stashing it in an inaccesible bank account. £25 a month will be £300 in December and takes a lot of the stress out of Christmas. I know you will say that it is more sensible to pay it off a card and reduce the interest you have to pay but psychologically there is something great about knowing you can have a guilt free spend at Christmas.0 -
Morning Freeby!
Just thought I'd wander over and mention that Wednesday was my third NSD *sashays across the room pretending her fingernails are reeeeally interesting*.....catching up on you an hour at a time...
How're you and DD2 feeling? Has DD1 joined a union yet re. her worker's rights?

Hi Helen, Thanks for reading. I'm glad you stuck it out to the end....you deserve a medal
It's funny how you mention baking as yesterday DD2 and I baked 36 cupcakes which she decorated ........and then ate (not all 36 but the vast majority of them - lol). It took our minds of feeling poorly and was FREE as I had all the stuff in the cupboard anyway.Knitting_Nora wrote: »Morning Freeby!

You missus can sashay all you like, I got number 8 yesterday *attempts to back flip across room but decides to lie on the floor and pretend I did it when no-one was looking*
DD2 and I are feeling much better, I think the cakes helped - lol and DD1 claims she is exhausted as she had to wash the dishes last night :cool:Free by FiftyDebt of the Moment -August NSD Challenge 14/150 -
Hello everyone
Hope everyone is feeling okay today, I am getting better :jand DD2 is getting better :j but still not 100%
. Never mind, another day in the house will finish the job and can only be good for my bank balance
So because I'm not doing anything I don't have anything to report either. I have checked my bank this morning and updated my spreadsheets .......... 5 days to payday and all is well but I am off to London for the weekend so I bet I'm not so chipper on Monday morning
Had a bit of a chat with DD1 and her way of thinking regards money last night. I asked her how much she had in her bank account and she couldn't tell me, then I asked her when her EMA goes in and she couldn't tell me and then I asked her how much EMA she got and .......are you picking up a theme here..........she couldn't tell me!!! (and even I know that)
Just pointed out the very basics to her such as she should always know exactly how much goes in and out and when.
I heard warning bells clanging and sirens warbling.......she reminded me of me 6 months ago
I just thought if I can get her into the basic MSE ways now it will (hopefully) last her the rest of her life and she'll won't end up in the same debt ridden hole her mother is in
She's in her last year of school and hoping to go to Uni next year so I really really need to put her on the right money path. I know in Scotland we don't have Uni fees but that doesn't stop it from costing a fortune (just less of a fortune) and she needs to know how to budget and plan. I have decided to do the drip method and just mention it in conversation hoping that I am planting little seeds.
No such worries with DD2 - she knows EXACTLY how much money she's got and she ain't parting with it
You need a crowbar to get anything out of that little madam.

D'ya know what? I am gonna blow my own trumpet now.
I have been a single parent for nearly 10 years. There is nothing wrong with me, I am not hideously disfigured or the size of a whale or anything but I made a choice a long time ago that my girls were my life and they, no matter what, would come first.
I have two beautiful, well mannered, well adjusted, good girls. I have a house many would kill for (3 bed, detatched, small quiet cul-de-sac) which is nearly paid for (5 years to go).
I did that.
Now I know I have debts and so I am not feeling quite as smug as this might come across but it could have been much much worse. So for the first time in 10 years I am gonna give myself a little teeny weeny pat on the back and say 'You're getting there, keep going'
I really hope that hasn't come across badly to you all, I realise I have burgered up the money situation but I didn't burger up my girls and that's all I ever wanted for that stage of my life.
Now to move onto the next stage............Free by FiftyDebt of the Moment -August NSD Challenge 14/150
