Well my first attempt didn't go too well this month.
Having unintentionally spent more than my income, due to the car + MOT and other reasons (personal), this hasn't helped!
But in reasoning with myself, I have just come through a christmas, so I shouldn't be too hard on myself.
I did buy a few items in the sale/offers from the other boards - which I aim to sell on for small gains, but gains nonetheless. (Ebay free lsitings this weekend also, so that's good)
Add to that the fact I gained a promotion at my new job!!!!! Wooo
I should be back on track by next month, will just mean more effort!0 -
Yesterday I decided I'm going to try and save £10K this year, so I hope it's not too late to join in! :j
So it's £834 to save a month, which leaves me a tidy round sum to work with. The only problem is, once I take off rent, transport, monthly bills and gym subscription, I am left with about £200 a month for food, electricity, water, tv, entertainment, holidays etc! :O Maybe I'll start cycling to work instead (have meant to repeatedly and always dreaded it, but I can make another try!)
I may have bitten slightly more than I can chew, but it's better to start overambitious and fall slightly short, than to aim lower and save less!Saving £10,000 in 2013: £4491.48/£10,0000 -
Excellent news today, gt interest of my savings account of £161.86
Which now brings my home savings balance upto £5600, with hopefully £600 going in when I get paid too!
It Compensates as I had to fork out £430 for car repairs recently!
Also got my my pay slip today - £1301.77
That doesn't include the £285 which goes straight into my work share scheme!
Delighted, big update on Friday when I gt paidFrom England - Live in Edinburgh and work as a bus driver0 -

Yay! Well done on your promotion. I think fortunate things like that are always a quick start to saving even more, rather than being tempted on splashing out with the extra income! Congrats6k in 2012: £4200.00/£6000.00
6k in 2013: £8209.62/£6000.00

an extra £150 in the pot today taking us to £585.60 so far this month, could we hit the 1K, this would be double what we wanted to save
well done everyone0 -
Saved £600 & pennies this month.
Not much else to report!Emergency savings: 4600
0% Credit card: 1965.000 -
The lovely boyf added £20 to the savings today to take our total saved to £4000 (started saving when we moved in together!). This makes it £639.88 saved this month.
I think we may struggle later in the year as have a 0% spending card which we bought all our furniture etc on; interest free runs out in November so we will start prioritising paying that for a few months (thought about stoozing but I'd rather not just for peace of mind!)First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!0 -
I am not doing well at this challenge! DH bought new glasses today £300!!!! He is bland as a bat so has extra thick lenses they then reduce etc etc. That is what we had managed to save this month. I will keep going though and hopefully make up for it!Mum to 2 DSs, dog mum, wife full-time worker.
