well done everyone, January is a tight month...
For everyone who is finding it tight, don't worry, its like deciding to stop smoking/drinking/gambling etc...once you've made the decidion then thats the first step towards doing it. We are all here to support each other and we will have ups and downs throughout the year.
I remember when we did the 'mortgage free in 3' challenge, we all said it was a marathon not a sprint, take each day at a time and keep going!

I have just raided OH's pocket change to add to my pots and also found some change in an old handbag ... and in an even older handbag I found my best friends driving licence which she "lost" around 10 months ago!!!0

Another one being inspired by all the members! My savings amount is the amount it is because for ages I would just leave any positive balance in my current account (earning 0% interest!) and now I've been productive in moving it across to a savings account. I'm so excited about payday this Thursday too! Although not excited for the next cc bill...0

Evening all,
Thought I'd pop in and say hi now it's a little busier.
I too am finding January abit of a struggle but it's payday on Wednesday so looking forward to actually saving abit of cash and paying some of the cc off:).
Just tried to apply for nat west 0% interest card but got to the last bit then an error popped up on their website, will try again tomorrow:(.
Also need to update my sig I think;).

We've just finished listing 45 items on (free listing today) so hoping a few of them sell; if they don't sell we will relist on the next free listing day. If still not sold they will go to the charity shop across the road (Ikea bag taken across yesterday and a further two & footspa to go on Saturday!).
Decluttering & hopefully doing the charity & our savings some good :-)
Oooh and after decluttering our financial paperwork we found boyfs sharesave scheme paperwork. (we'd forgotten about it!) so an extra £490 in the savings on our spreadsheet as is a 3 yr plan so can count towards our house savings! (only £70 counted for this challenge this year!) yayness!!!First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!0 -
Kittenkirst; I'm sure you will have some luck selling at least a few of those items. 45 is quite a few to list at once though, so congrats on that, I would have got bored after about 20
I really should keep an eye out for the free listing daysOld Account RecoveredDebt at LMB April 2009= £14,980Debt free Sometime in November 2013£69k left of 90k Mortgage - Overpaying by £270 a monthCurrent Savings = £13000MSE turned my life around years ago0 -
I have to say I did get really fed up doing it, but the thought of all those pennies in savings kept me going. Plus lovely boyf said he doesn't want to get married until we have a house; this is spurring me on as I would love to marry him in the next 5 years....so saving it is then! :-)First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
