Happy New Year everyone - my New Year has started badly on the money saving front, I lost £50 out of my jeans pocket at a Hogmanay bash last night - I went to the bar and put my hand in my pocket but alas it must have fallen out... cue much searching on the floor, in the loos etc etc but no joy. Boo. It was Christmas money that I had been given but it's still very annoying to lose money. That said, some one must have picked up £50 roadkill last night and will be delighted at their good luck.

Althjough it#s annoying, if that's the worst that happens to me in 2012 then I'll be happy! Onwards and upwards.

    happy new year everyone

my saving will be slow off the ground also, i need to pay some things and want to do a bit of decorating (on a budget) but then have some ideas i want to try out,

I am sat here with the heating off (freezing) but i am determined not to put heating on in the day unless desperate

I am determined to cut down takeaways, menu plan, stick to budget etc whereever possible, will also look at bills eg virgin will be gone as soon as we are out of contract come august

Will ebay in a few weeks or so

    etc etc

i too like number crunching but do it on paper cos i havent got / dont know how to do an excel! if any one would like to point me in the right direction will be much appreciated!"

    good luck all!

I fear I may be a tad geeky! Instead of trekking 80 miles to go out for new years, I am sat home having a harry potter marathon, leftover veggie stew & dumplings for dinner & merrily planning my savings for the new year!

One q; do we only do one monthly update or do we add as we move money into savings? :0)

Also I have a bank acct s/sheet that I would happily share, has my montly outgoings and balances on one tab, savings forecast on the second, urility reads and payments on another. PM me if you want to see, may not be hugely high-tech but works for us :0)

    Happy New Year Savers!

Hi, I'd love to have a look at it. I've still to set mine up so any help is much apprerciated. I'll pm you with my email address. Thank you

Happy New Year to everyone! I've not transfered anything yet as I've still to go out for some nappies for the little one this week, will probably do it at the end of the week.

Well according to online calculators I am due one....anyone care to share a number to phone to confirm an get them to get butts in gear...apparently im owed 4 figure. Would be a great little bonus.

Try 0845 300 0627. General enquiry line for individual tax payers, unsure if they'll open on Tuesday or Wednesday though. Bear in mind they will be very busy atm due to the impending SA deadline on january 31st.
  • thats a good idea for everyone, check that you are owed any tax back...

I'm off to check quidco in a mo, thanks for the reminder :)
