Happy new year fellow savers!
I have got the grand total of £65.22 swept from overbudgetting my monthly income and outgoings which is the surplus from it going to the challenge pot (yay!)
The preparation for this challenge has definitely helped as we have loads of food stocked up and toiletries too (I counted 56 bars of soap!) so wont have to buy much.
I've also budgetted for the dogs vaccinations which are due this month and a badly needed hairdo, also DD1s 18th birthday at the end of the month but I bought her a nice piece of jewellry in the summer so thats sorted.
Good luck everyone, I reckon this year will go fast!
p.s. I have downloaded a (free) book onto my kindle about Benjamin Franklins tips on becoming wealthy and it is a good read but the guy who is interpreting his musing wrote that it is a good idea to look into Icelandic banks!!! Realised it was written 2008/9 but the advice is still relevant today (apart from the Icesave of course...)

Me too. Hope to have it cleared by next week.0 -

Already have a little saved in my cupboard ready to bank. Will deposit this on Tuesday, so will update later.
Just wanted to check, can we include over payments to our mortgage as savings, or does it have to be money all put away in a saving account?
Good luck to everyone.
(Also how do people get that line that seperates your text from your figures?)

It's the signature. Look at the top of the thread for "User CP", click on that and then on "Edit Signature" on the left hand side.

Hi everyone.
I know i'm a bit late, but can i be added to the list. My aim is to save £12000 in 2012. It's going to be tight but i reckon' i can do it.
Starting today my ISA is already showing Januarys interest, so it's a good way to start.
How does it work? are people adding the total after the end of every month?

I think there is a form on Post 1 to report totals in every month.0
