Good luck to all the savers on the thread. May all your targets be met.
_party_Living for tomorrow might mean that you survive the day after.
It is always different this time. The only thing that is the same is the outcome.
Portfolios are like personalities - one that is balanced is usually preferable.

First page is a "detailed" account of all my outgoings which come off my salary each month to December 2012.
Page 2 is a note of all my yearly payments e.g. Car insurance, home insurance, tv licence, road tax etc (I pay them all yearly rather than in instalments). It is kind of like a notes page.
Page 3 is a note of Mr G's loan payments - this is not really anything to do with me, just a reminder for when he asks me! I used to have my own loan payments on this page.
Page 4 is a note of all my incomings and summary of outgoings for each month. I only do this one month or so in advance as things like my CSA money differ each month. I add in outgoings not included on page 1 e.g. I pay £10 per week to an account for Little Miss Gap's cats rather than pay insurance for them and these payments don't come out of my salary.
Page 5 is my plan for the year to come in this challengeI suppose it is my savings page. Although I am officially aiming for £5k I actually need more than that over the year so I also have a note of the other amounts that I need.
I'm not actually sure how I would post my spreadsheet on here. If anyone is that keen to see, PM me your email address and I am happy to forward a copy on. Beware that it might be complete nonsense to anyone normal :rotfl:

Know what you mean. I am going to declare £250 in the pot for #86 now as I can't wait another 5 hours to do it in 2012! Having a go at saving £250 each month - which is doable until I change (hopefully) job, which will lead to (an unregrettable) drop in salary.0 -
I fear I may be a tad geeky! Instead of trekking 80 miles to go out for new years, I am sat home having a harry potter marathon, leftover veggie stew & dumplings for dinner & merrily planning my savings for the new year!
One q; do we only do one monthly update or do we add as we move money into savings? :0)
Also I have a bank acct s/sheet that I would happily share, has my montly outgoings and balances on one tab, savings forecast on the second, urility reads and payments on another. PM me if you want to see, may not be hugely high-tech but works for us :0)
Happy New Year Savers!First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!0 -
Sigh, after realising I had gained to much Christmas weight to fit into any of my nice clothes I decided to stay in tonight, the OH has thrown a strop and went to bed. Told him he could go out but nope I've single handedly ruined NYE. Think Morrisons will take the booze back?
So i've got a quiet few hours to start on my plan!0 -

I would like to join this thread please. I am by no means in a place on my own to hit the £12k but want to do this with OH as he is self employed and so his earnings are uncapped (in theory). We think it's about time we start saving for a deposit for a house now we have stopped moving all over the country every other year!
The start of the year may be a bit slow as I want to prioritise paying off a few debts first and then do major saving in bulk once they have been paid
Looking forward to seeing how you all are getting on and ideas for improving our savings. We have already agreed we will go PAYG once our contracts are up as o2 have some great PAYG offers and we will meal plan in 2012 to avoid overspending on food shops.
Happy 2012 everyone0
