Not posted in a while but ive just moved and had dodgy internet for a while. I have a £5 cheque from Feel Good to add to my pot (wont cash it until 2012 lol) hopefully get my deposit back from landlord which is around £495 (i have a feeling that i may need to fight for this) and im waiting on a paypal refund. Will also get a council tax refund as i may have left it a little bit late in telling them ive moved haha.

Also put £1 in my sealed piggy. A little early but better in there than spent!
  • Nice idea

I could save 12K if i didnt spend big the entire year but I plan to build a monster gaming machine and so I dont think 12K is possible.

I'd say 10K, it'll be a tough one but I saved 8K in 10months without spending big, let see if I can make it to 10.

    Im in 10K :)

Hi all, I've been following this thread on and off since the day it's started.

I'd love to join the challenge but really worried I'd never meet the target. I noticed that a lot of people joining in are either single or have no children. We are a family of four with the youngest child still only 15 months old, I stay at home with kids, my husband is in full time employment.

I'm looking for some encouragement from those of you with families and, perhaps, some tips on how to make your money go further and save more.

    Many thanks

    Hi :hello:

We too are a family of four (one 5 and one 8) me and DH both work full time.

Hopefully we'll all be able to share ideas on making money go further over the next 12 months :D I certainly need all help available! :o

I can't wait for the challenge to start now! It does seem to have come round quickly though, when the thread first started it seamt ages away :D

    sweet x

Just thought id also add that I have a 2 year old (and 2 cats lol) OH works fulltime and I'm parttime. I'm lucky that we've managed to work our shifts in a way that we don't need childcare.

Some mOre change in he piggy. Going to look at ebaying some random junk!
  • I took lots of pictures for ebay today and have managed to list 7 items tonight, they'll be finishing on 5th Jan so will be a nice start to our savings (fingers crossed)
  • £12,000 for me is a tall order, but

    not impossible, so

    I'm in if thats ok
  • Hello everyone! Gosh this thread is getting bigger by the minute!
I'm so pleased that there are so many people up for this challenge!

Well I am so excited about this challenge and for the new year! I am literally counting down the hours!

Tomorrow I am going to trudge my way thru my finances and calculate my savings total for 2011.... then I'm gonna try and hit the ground running for 2012! I feel an ebay session coming on!

Am I the only sad one that loves to jig n juggle my figures? I feel like I am some sort of weird, geeky, obsessive figure cruncher!?!?!?! :o:o
  • Hello Everyone

Just came across the thread as I was looking for a new challenge for the New Year, this sounds good, but an achievable target for me will be more like 5K as I only work part-time. We are also a family of 4, with 2 cats and 2 bunnies.

I love to have a goal. So mine is £5,000 please. :j
