finally decided that the savings would be used to bring down the mortgage .phoned this am and got a balance for today and changed to complete repayment only . i was going to reduce the term but it was too big a commitment at this time but i may do it next year .
working the figures out i will be reducing my mortgage by £605 /month .0 -
Well looking like even though i will be paying off high debts of £13,500 along with saving my £15,000 for this....i will have to get a couple of months saving done before i start overpaying the debts, just so i have something to fall back on if something does go wrong - loss of job/income cut etc. I am going to have a look at the earn an extra £10 a day thread...will need alot more than the £3,660 ish that it will bring but it will still be a great amount to have for the "little effort" required - so some of the regulars say!!Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

Please may I join too? I am already committed to paying 20k in 2012 for paying off the car loan and significantly reducing the mortgage. But also need to start putting money aside for savings too.
So can you put me down for 12,000 savings in 2012?

Hi all, I've been following this thread on and off since the day it's started.
I'd love to join the challenge but really worried I'd never meet the target. I noticed that a lot of people joining in are either single or have no children. We are a family of four with the youngest child still only 15 months old, I stay at home with kids, my husband is in full time employment.
I'm looking for some encouragement from those of you with families and, perhaps, some tips on how to make your money go further and save more.
Many thanks0
