Hi All
I have updated my sig too - £1325 from my wage sent over as the first payment towards the challenge. I also got some money for Christmas which I need to have a count and see what is left as it will be going over to this challenge too.
Hapy New Year everyone.

Ok so i've transferred £200.48 to my savings account. A little early but chances are ill be snoozing by midnight. The 48p was to leave the balance at a round number lol. After my bills come out ill transfer some more over.
Paypal were meant to rule on my case today but they havent. Argh, I want that £19 in my savings account!!! Still to cash my £5 cheque too.
Going to start with supermarket savings stamps and hooefully get enough to cover December and January next year. Also ive already started my 2012 Christmas shopping - sales are the best. I spent so much due to being disorganised this year
I need to think of some ways to increase my income. Overtime isn't an option unfortunately0 -

Guys, sad update but might be some inspiration for some people. :j
Since my teens i have been working, and always put on a weekend coupon on the football, even under 18 i bet all the time, i turned 18 in may and am earning 24k a year, which is ok at my age, and living at home ive been terrible wasting it betting.
Its completely my own fault, thinking i can win more more more and end up losing. Its always when i miss this forum for a few days i go on a betting streak, i was doing ok today, would have been up and was going to bank all my money depending on the last game. But the referee had a shocking game and sent a player off making my team loose. I Overall lost £500 tonight:mad::mad:
I would guess that this year i would have probably lost in the region of £3000:eek::eek:. Add that to my current savings and i would be in an excellent position. But life is life and i must move on from my mistakes. Whats the first thing that went through my mind tonight when my bet lost?..When do i get paid to deposit more.
Well from Tuesday 6th December 2011 i am going to try my upmost hardest never to waste money like that again.
I current have £5500 in savings, and expect to save at LEAST £750 from my December pay.
So my total should be at LEAST £6250 at the end of December.
As you can see from my Signature, i am aiming to have £15000 saved by 01/01/2012.
Basically saving £8750 next year so i can reach it.
Monthly Income - £1350
Work Savings Plan - £285 a month x 12 = £3420
First Home Saver - £300 a month x 12 = £3600
Basically i need another 1.5k to save to reach my target, but i sometimes get some overtime at work and my spending will vary month to month. If i do accumulate £500 i am going to lock it away in a 2 year fix, ISA or online bond etc so i cant touch it. :cool2::cool2:
I am annoyed at myself, but im not going to get depressed from it etc as it was my own choice and i deserve it. Hopefully it will make me stronger and more dedicated to this forum to save money and completed my challenge.
Welcome everyone on this challenge, im going to get to know you all as im definitely going to be here alot this coming year! If anyone feels their are going off track a little just PM me and we can encourage each other, it will benefit me greatly aswell.
I hope we all do well.

End of year accounts are
First home saver - £5700
Current account 1 - £500
Current account 2 - £500
Work share scheme - £285
Total Savings = £6985
Although I have to pay rent, fuel, spending money, phone and gym bills and car insurance so I should be in a great position for 2012!
Keep it up people and good luck

I just updated Post 10 with where I was on the 31st December 2011, and where I want to be by the end of this year. Below is a summary.
I am breaking down my £12,000 target for this year into the following savings/investments:
Cash Based Savings: £8,000 - Cash Based Target for 2012: £19,000
Sharesave: £250 x 10 payments - Saving Target for 2012: £2,500
SIP: £125 x 12 payments - Investment Target for 2012: £1,5000 -
Good luck everyone, let the 'games' begin...0

I'm impatiently waiting for my tax refund cheque to clear so I can transfer half of it into my savings (the other half goes to pay off my loan, minus just enough to buy a new netbook). This should make a good start to the new year
. Finishing a higher paying job two months into a tax year does have some benefit after all.

Happy New year everyone!
I will just be transferring a lump sum once a month to my mortgage account, so all my extras will go into the current account until I do that.Mum to 2 DSs, dog mum, wife full-time worker.
Keen to live a healthly lifestyle and save money0 -
Happy New Year everyone:beer:
I am another one who can spend hours fiddling with my spreadsheets and number crunching, setting targets and making lists:rotfl:
My saving will be off to a slow start the first 3 months of the challenge but I am hoping to increase my monthly savings as the year progresses. I must chase up a tax refund I am due from March 2011 too. Need a kick up the bum to get this sorted.:o
£255.76 transferred to savings today although this may go down a bit during the month if I decide to spend some of my christmas gift money. ALso cleared out my purse to add change to my sealed pots and a £1 to my £1/day Christmas 2012 pot.:DSave £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
Make £2021 extra income - £99.750
