  • Hello,

Been reading, subscribed already whilst I was thinking about things!

I would really like to join. 12 thousand pounds is ever such a lot of money! it would be brilliant to save it by the end of the year!

    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Can I join in too please. I reckon that I can save £6,000 so i'd like to push myself for £8,000 in 2012 - i'd rather aim too high than too low.

    Good luck everyone!

Need to get organised, im really bad for having money in my current account as i spend it, and online savers, so every 1k or £500 i have i think im going to lock it away for a year, so every month next year i should be getting it back, not bothered about interest really just need to save the money instead of spending it.

Can you put me on the list please? :)

We are self employed and only have a small savings cushion. When clients don't pay/pay late we have to dip into it and somehow it never gets repaid. :o

I'm only going to aim for £5000 though and anything above that will be a bonus.

Redbull if i was to ever take the plunge and go self employed i think i would do that for a year. New bond every month for a year leading upto going self employed. So will treat it as income as i get going. Just keep putting it away as soon as you have money you will not need.
Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

Guys, sad update but might be some inspiration for some people. :j
Since my teens i have been working, and always put on a weekend coupon on the football, even under 18 i bet all the time, i turned 18 in may and am earning 24k a year, which is ok at my age, and living at home ive been terrible wasting it betting.

Its completely my own fault, thinking i can win more more more and end up losing. Its always when i miss this forum for a few days i go on a betting streak, i was doing ok today, would have been up and was going to bank all my money depending on the last game. But the referee had a shocking game and sent a player off making my team loose. I Overall lost £500 tonight:mad::mad:

I would guess that this year i would have probably lost in the region of £3000:eek::eek:. Add that to my current savings and i would be in an excellent position. But life is life and i must move on from my mistakes. Whats the first thing that went through my mind tonight when my bet lost?..When do i get paid to deposit more.

Well from Tuesday 6th December 2011 i am going to try my upmost hardest never to waste money like that again.
I current have £5500 in savings, and expect to save at LEAST £750 from my December pay.
So my total should be at LEAST £6250 at the end of December.

As you can see from my Signature, i am aiming to have £15000 saved by 01/01/2012.
Basically saving £8750 next year so i can reach it.

    Monthly Income - £1350

    Work Savings Plan - £285 a month x 12 = £3420
    First Home Saver - £300 a month x 12 = £3600

Basically i need another 1.5k to save to reach my target, but i sometimes get some overtime at work and my spending will vary month to month. If i do accumulate £500 i am going to lock it away in a 2 year fix, ISA or online bond etc so i cant touch it. :cool2::cool2:

I am annoyed at myself, but im not going to get depressed from it etc as it was my own choice and i deserve it. Hopefully it will make me stronger and more dedicated to this forum to save money and completed my challenge.

Welcome everyone on this challenge, im going to get to know you all as im definitely going to be here alot this coming year! If anyone feels their are going off track a little just PM me and we can encourage each other, it will benefit me greatly aswell.

I hope we all do well.

    That's a very honest post redbull5, and here's to a more constructive 2012.

Are you getting support (either here or elsewhere) to kick the gambling habit? :)
I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.
