Speaking of spreadsheets....do you fancy pointing me in the right direction for downloading a spreadseet? Will need one and get cluded up for putting in my income and expenses, month by month and the year as a whole...see where im going wrong and what im doing well.

  • For what it's worth, most people recommend starting here:

    as a good starting point.

Hope you're not thinking I'm teaching you to suck eggs, but that will give you a load of pointers as to what you spend.

Then it's a case of adapting a spreadsheet - I have a simple spreadsheet with a few columns:
What, IN, OUT, Total at its simplest.
Feb 2012 - onwards MF achieved
September 2016 - Back into clearing a mortgage - Was due to be paid off in 32 years in March 2047 -
April 2018 down to 28.00 months vs 30.04 months at normal payment.
Predicted mortgage clearing 03/2047 - now looking at 02/2045

Aims: 1) To pay off mortgage within 20 years - 2037

Thats what i need-just a spreadsheet. I have done that SOA more times than i can count to!! It looks very attractive, i can save 4 figure a month as a minimum. Looking to start up a couple of little businesses aswel though so hopefully that can bring in an extra couple of k....as im going for £15k!

  • rictus123 at the very simplest this is what I have:
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgeI6gG-Zn-edDIwLWJ1TVUtdEZzV3VXUmFsYkxZOHc

obviously I've anonymised it but you'll get the idea.
    Nothing fancy at all!

Why am i so excited that i NEED to save at least £1250 a month to reach my £15,000 target. Even been playing around with figures, seeing if i can go for £18,000 or even £20,000! If i saved that in a year i would be absolute amazed! £15,000 is a challenge, never mind another third on top of that! Bring on this challenge, 29 days and its on!!

  • Silly question that might have been answered already. Does the money have to be all there at the end of the year? If so then I probably won't make 12k, pilot's licenses ain't cheap :D
