Well done everyone - another great month
I'll do a big update at the end of the month and then we'll see how we're all doing!

Welcome to the thread blize H and best of luck with your savings.
Thanks SF for doing the updates - hopefully I have managed to do mine correctly this month!
Chris_M - love the idea that we are powering to towards the finish line. Mine may be less of a power and more of a stagger and funds get diverted from savings to paying for holidays, birthdays and christmas. We will see how things go. I have applied to do some supply teaching so hopefully will get an interview and some teaching money that I can boost those savings with.0 -

I did actually save up £1.5k (didn't update the signature/thread) but I have had a rough couple of months which have affected my savings. My father passed away at the start of february and funeral costs and taking care of my mother/other siblings have meant that saving money has been the least of my worries. I managed to take a few days of paid compassionate leave, but also had to take a couple days of unpaid leave (could have taken it as annual leave but i think i will need that later on).
On top of that last week i had a car crash (tyre blowout). No-one was hurt (thank god) and I didn't have to claim on insurance. The car was a banger anyway, so it wouldn't have been worth it. I'm looking at buying a new car but that's going to set me back about £6k, of which i'll be borrowing some from my sister. Therefore the majority of my next two or three pay cheques will be paying her back. As a result, I doubt i will be able to "save" any money until June/July.
So I have been away from this thread since this previous post of mine, but I''m now back in challenge.
I have saved up a paltry grand now (will update the spreadsheet, soon) and it will take a serious effort from now to get upto 50% let alone the whole thing (I don't think my gross salary before tax for the rest of the year is £12k! :rotfl:)
Still going to keep up with this challenge and will be happy with 5/6k.£12k in 2012 challenge, No. 174: £6242.82/£6,000*

Whao!! @ all these updates!
Well Ive come back with a little update myself. I've bought a gorgeous new car (New to me), instead of my original idea of a Mini Cooper. Ive bought a Volvo (which is quite sensible especially for me). So my savings are actually a BIG FAT ZERO once again. I actually had to borrow £1k off my mum to get it. But heyho I'll get back to the savings game once I have it paid off which should be the end of September. I've also booked a sneaky weekend away for myself & my partner to Dublin for the end of Sept. Got it relatively cheap.
I'm just not ready to give the honeymoon period up just yet!
Happy Saving Folks.
