Well done for some great numbers for August! I splashed out on the new curtains that I was not going to buy :-) so my total for this month is £974 - a bit less than I would have liked. Still, going in the right direction so got to be pleased! Have only left myself with about £50 spending money for September so I'm looking at a quiet month :-)

    Good luck for September everyone!
  • Wow, some fab new totals. Well done on the savings everyone:T:T. Does anyone know the total saved so far from all of us?

Over Half a Million according to the spreadsheet
  • And it's £1,104.64 for August! It's my highest total so far, although given the circumstances (three weeks visiting my parents, who kindly offered everything, and no transport to pay for that time) I was hoping for something a little higher. But hey, it just goes to show I'm relatively sensible in my savings even when circumstances are not as favourable, I suppose.

September may bring some big spends as we're moving house, so new deposit etc.

Also, lifestyle in new house will be slightly more expensive. But hopefully also healthier and more fun! :)

  • ETA - Londoner01 - your totals have been updated on the spreadsheet every month, right from the word go. Have you looked on the spreadsheet? The first post hasn't been updated yet, but the spreadsheet has.

Sorry SlowlyFading, my bad - I must have been thinking of the opening post, although I don't see why I would expect that to be updated as regularly!

Anyway, I didn't even check before complaining and about that I profusely apologise! :)

Get into your loft and the backs of cupboards and dig out your [STRIKE]junk[/STRIKE] quality used possessions. I've got three things on at the moment and they are all going for much more than expected. Perhaps it is a good time to sell? :)
I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.
  • Well done everyone!

My amount saved in August was £157.87 (member 159), which puts me at £1763.69 in total. Hoping for better things this month, as I managed to get some extra hours at work and I am solely going to put the extra cash into the savings. Yeah!

  • Sorry I haven't posted for a few months (April!) but I'm still saving, promise!!
So, I didn't manage to save diddly-squiddly in May (I went on holiday instead and boy did I need it!) but got a bonus in June (woop) and did some overtime in July and August (not so woop). Here's what I've banked the last three months:

    June: £1212.98
    July: £1500
    August: £1500

Great to see everyone still so motivated - well done!!! - and hasn't the year flown by?! [skips off to update sig and first page]

Have just updated the spreadsheet with my £425 from August. Not very impressed with the amount but still better than nothing.

Had some good news on Monday, my OH got a 3% rise backdated to June and a 5k bonus which will all be added to our house savings bringing us to nearly 20k in total so that was great news. Wish I got a bonus like that, mine was just over £200! Think I need a job with performance related pay...
    Finally bought a home

    Hi all
I didn't post last month as my savings were a big fat zero then. I've struggled to keep us on track the last couple of months. It's all been due to sports tickets.

We (me, DD & DS) splashed out on olympic tickets - mum as usual footing the bill. Then we heard we'd hit the top of the waiting list for football season tickets (on it since 1999). So had to find full year up front costs for those. Although over the year it will be slightly less than we pay on a per match basis.

But I'm back on track now. I put the word round, and got some part-time work which has kept me very busy. So I am declaring £1000 saving for August. Which takes me to £4276.19 fot the year to date, and which is above my original target of £3600. But to keep me saving, I've decided to set a new goal of £6000 by the year end.

I love catching up on everyone's news. Congratulations to all those who are close to target. Welcome back profligatemax and congrats to Justin.

SF - Sorry if I am late for the monthly update, but its fine if you do it with next months update.
