  • Thanks for changing my update SF. Just had a call from my mum and she has given me an early bithday gift of £2000 which she has transfered into my account already!!! I can't believe it.

Needless to say that it will be added to the savings pot - she knows I am doing this with the money as I explained to her that I am trying to save a reasonable amount for an 'emergency fund' after using all my previous savings to pay off the mortgage. She has insisted that I 'do something nice for myself' too so I will use some the money I planned to save from our wages at the end of the month to have a couple of days away. Still hoping to add a wee bit more though before the end of August.

    Hello All,

Lowest month of savings so far this year - £830 for the month, taking my total to £14,060.

Total was less than usual, due to car insurance renewal paid and a bit of a splurge on Olympic tickets :D At least I'll recoup a chunk of that back once I get repaid by other half / friends.

August is highly likely to be a (large) negative month for me, but I have been expecting that for a while.

Keep up the savings everyone!!

Not been on for ages - now up to £10,225!! Thanks Quidco for the £25 today!!! Slowly getting to my target, hopfully will be achieved before December!!!

Well done loads of you, great efforts!! This has been a great thread for motivation!!!
  • Sorry for the delay in updating - have managed to save £564 in June and £1000 in July. Have updated the front form slowlyfading.

August should also be a good month savings wise BUT it is my last full pay check as my contract runs out in the middle of September and I don't have a new job yet:eek:. I don't like the idea of being unemployed but there is very little coming up in my line of work!

I've worked out that to save my target of £10 000 I need to save £688 a month for the remaining months of the year. If I wanted to make the £12 000 then I need to save £1088 a month. Technically if I get a new job, this may be doable. But at the minute that seems a big IF :(.

Looking on the other side, its good I have all these savings for surviving when I am unemployed, although I don't really want to use them for that!

Also, in June, it was the first month where my total savings (not just from this challenge) have risen above £20 000!!! :D I'm starting to get a pretty good house deposit together now.

  • Hey everybody I'm back!

Had an absolutely wonderful wedding, although my MSE savings are completely diminished, I have £2500 of wedding money in the bank left over after my honeymoon to Alcudia and Amsterdam, my new goal now is to buy my dream car, a little Mini Cooper.

Myself & my partner have decided to try and save £1k per month for the next 5 months and that should cover it.

There is always something to save for in this life. Thank you all for your well wishes & PM's.

    Happy saving!
