Don't loose heart Ali- you've made a great start this year already so don't get too downhearted!
Moneys very tight for us for the next few mOnths- really got to stick to our budgets, but it should ease up after the summer , just need to bide our time until then. Fingers crossed we escape unscathed :-)First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!0 -
Well, so far this month I've saved a big fat zero!!!!!!!!
I thought Feb was tough, March and April are even harder for us!
Both cars to be MOTd, car tax on one is due at the end of March, just arranged car insurance policies for both cars , home insurance is due beginning of April and pet insurance almost straight after that!!! It's never ending
So pretty sure savings will be very low this month:(
Think of it this way Ali, what you've already saved this year will make a sizeable dent in next years insurance bill so you won't have such a 'bill shock' in 12 months time. Isn't that a good enough reason to keep on saving?...Making Money :cheesy:

Not really money saving, but we went to cinema last night (we have at least one cinema date a month; one if my perks from work is a voucher scheme so get £20 cinema vouchers a month). Soo I went with friend a few weeks ago and found out to my delight that one of the gift cards had been mistakenly loaded with £100 instead of £10!
Imagine my glee whenn last night we discovered the other had £100 on!!!!! Woooooooop!
Its our nephews birthday at the end of the month & were planning to all go cinema together; so can now treat the entire family to their tickets & treats :0)First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).

Ali - some months are always going to be difficult that others - there are always things that need paying for! Like MVL says, next year you'll have the savings to pay for it straight away and not have to worry
You're doing great, just hang in there!
Kitten - ooh how lovely! Are you sure you won't have to pay it back though? What did you go to see? Me and OH are going to see We Bought A Zoo tomorrow as he's got some free tickets, I'm looking forward to itBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Im hoping not Slowlyfading; I know from colleagues when mistakes are made they've never claimed it back :0) Its done through an outsourced company so we shall see! Fingers crossed!!
(as we've been saving and only moved in together on our own in September (been together 4 years though) we've amassed a little stockpile so if they cancel our cinema vouchers we should be okay for a while anyway :0D)
Good work on the free tickets! We saw The Raven last night; I really enjoyed it- was full of suspense but not scary! Let us know what you think of the zoo film- saw the trailer & it looked like a proper heartwarming film.
Today is LOTR morning so enjoying a little drooling over Aragorn (yum yum!)First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).

I've had £500 inheritance to add to my savings, taking me up to £2128.74 at this stage in the year. And my work expenses of £321 have been approved and therefore should appear in my bank account shortly!
Kittenkirst - drooling over Aargorn sounds a good sunday morning to me! Unfortunately I'm working on coursework2021 MFW #35: £6000/£60000 -
thanks very much everybody for your support. I'm sure it'll all work out for the best and come May things will start improving :beer:0

A little off topic but I love your name, location and sig! Very good :T
Nothing good to update on the savings front yet this month. I was overpaid at the end of Feb for 40 extra hours of overtime so I'm waiting for that to be resolved before I know how much I actually should have been paid and then how much I can save this month. It's very frustrating "It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. It is in fact true. It's called living." Terry PratchettBought our house 2012Married 2015

Just been juggling some figures around for this month as we are approaching a new tax year :T
I've moved across my AA ISA to a 2 year fixed rate ISA with Lloyds TSB. Getting 3.4% at the moment but my plan is to get that up to £10k by the 6th April to get the full 3.7%.
To do this I have decided to skip my payment into my regular savers this month and put it into my Lloyds Incentive Saver instead, so a thousand pounds will be going in there on pay day.
On top of this it's the first month of my sharesaveso another £250 for that has to be found.
Now I've today decided to close my Northern Rock regular saver and use the proceeds £2,250 to further add to the ISA pot.
Long and short of it on the 6th April I'm planning to add £4,640 into my Lloyds ISA, leaving me with a further £1,000 to invest at some point next tax year. The main thing though I should have the 10K needed to get the 3.7% interest rate come the 6th April :j:j:j
So if all goes to plan in terms of new money for March that will work out at about £1,380 with sharesaves, sips and interest payments going into savings.
It's going to be a tight month0
