I've been away with work for a week so I've saved a load on petrol and food. £700 gone into ISA this month (almost hit the limit, but not quite!) but April and May is car insurance/MOT/service time for me, so I doubt I'll be able to save anything as I need to build my safety net/rainy day money back up!

    Total is now £1700.
    6k in 2012: £4200.00/£6000.00
    6k in 2013: £8209.62/£6000.00
    7k in 2014: £5900/£7000

OH payday yesterday so another £120 saved this month.

Have opened a Barclays loyalty ISA this week and put some of savings so far into that as hadn't used up any of my 2011/12 allocation. Still have the First Direct Regular Saver and when that matures in November, will pay that into the ISA which will go towards the 2012/13 ISA allocation.

Hopefully still on target for £4k as part of this challenge.

  • Hi folks. March has been a bit of a disaster so there won't be much to declare. I had hoped to get over the 6K mark but don't think I will. Also trying to set aside some money for our summer holiday in May. Will post final update next week. Best of luck everyone.

Well, been a while since ive updated, mainly because of the fact that ive gone backwards in my savings !!! booo :(

But on the plus side, i have cleared my overdraft again - so technically ive saved even though it doesnt feel like it!

Plus, ive just had my birthday and holiday in Portugal.

Payday tomorrow (bonus coming next month, yipee!) so time to start a fresh month, going to keep an eye on ebay for free listings, sell a few car bits on the car forum and sell some fags i bought for 'personal use' :)

Chin up, fingers crossed it will all come together!

Well this month I've been looking at finding a regular saver account to start saving my ISA savings up for the tax year 2013/14.

I'm really looking for 5%. Thought I found it with The Derbyshire they had a branch in Birmingham my local town but it's now shut :(

Similar accounts were set up at Dunferemline BS and Cheshire BS but nothing around the Birmingham way and they can only be opened in branch. I may have to wait until one is offered. I've got one with the West Brom but that only pays 4.1% by comparrison. The Northern Rock account I'm closing on the 5th April to move the money into my fixed rate ISA along with further savings to make the £10K needed for the 3.7% interest rate on my account.
  • Slowlyfading, please can you amend the target amount for no.89 to £5000? Due to changes in our circumstances, £10k isn't going to happen.
HSBC Credit Card £608.69, HSBC Overdraft: £4123.67, HSBC Loan: £8,270.69
Lloyds Credit Card: £1418.62, Very Account: £518.99, Barclaycard: £126
Total Debt as of 9th June 2020: £15066.66

I'm probably about to leave myself short again for next month, but declaring March at £1,351. I got SOOOOOO lucky with the MOT and service on my car only being £173!!! :p
I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.
  • Hey everyone,

I havent posted here for a while. Well my savings have completely changed as we have definately decided that for the time being we are going to stay in our current house as we wont be able to move due to not having enough equity in our house, current climate etc.

Anyway with that being decided we have started to make home repairs. First one being the garden which we have just revamped by putting down decking which i love :) So that was £1200 gone. £100 to a relative for laying it and now left with £300 left.

I do still want to save tho so I think its just a matter of changing my target and sticking with that. So im going to aim to save £300 per month just for a rainy day as well as trying to decorate as I go.

There may be times when I just want to use the savings which Im totally okay with.

So Im going to change my target to £2000 for the year.

I could just quit the challenge but I enjoy all the support from everyone on here and Im technically still doing my own wee challenge.
    Mortgage deposit target April £9000
New mortgage deposit target May £8000 to go

Yup! Please can you use the link in the first post on the thread (just so I remember to do it later) and fill that in?
