Just had a juggle through of the finances and garnd total now is £1018.81.
My isa is now full so thats nice, just concentrating on OHs one, I have a bit saved up from before (see sig) but keeping it all separate for the purposes of this challenge. OH gets paid tomorrow so thats good.
How is everyone managing? Any tips on cutting back? I am making a determined effort on the shopping front (food) and have been to Ald! for the last 3 weeks and made a substantial saving even though we normally shop at Lid!. I only spent just over £43 this saturday and got everyhting I need for the week for 4 of us. I did a menu and looked at what we'd already got in and bought what we needed. The fresh stuff is marvellous in there, blueberries were only 59p, I have an extra large salad drawer and it is bursting with fresh stuff!
I've done a roast chuck yesterday for lunch and doing a hearty soup today with home made bread, its got pulses and beans and lentils in it. Tomorrow I will do a chicken pie with a sliced spud topping with the leftovers and then smoked mackerel and salad, next day jacket spuds, cheese and beans, Friday is beef curry then its saturday again!
I never buy bread now which saves me an absolute fortune as we all take packed lunches too. I couldnt go back to eating sliced bread now (urgh!)
Hope everyone is doing ok, I am trying not to spend anything, I need a worktop saver for the kitchen as the worktop is getting a bit worn but I'm going to look round the chairty shops on friday as I'm off and hope to find one there.
I am quite excited about this challenge as the money is mounting up quickly, I do worry about the economy though as the B of E keep prinitng more and more money and it makes me think it wont be worth anything, but what can you do? Its always better to have a bit put away than nothing...

:j Jumping for joy....have been on a money saving mission today and came out on top :T Lots of my bills are up for renewal this month. A few clicks and calls and I've managed to halve my buildings and contents insurance, take £5 a month off my mobile contract and cut my broadband bill in half. Looking forward to reaping the benefits over the coming months and being able to put more in the money saving pot

I've transferred another £100 to my ISA which puts me at £400 this month so far, £900 altogether. My ISA now has £4100 in it, wonder if I'll be able to fill it before April! Is it April 1st or 6th that the ISA year ends?!Desperate_Housewife wrote: »I am quite excited about this challenge as the money is mounting up quickly, I do worry about the economy though as the B of E keep prinitng more and more money and it makes me think it wont be worth anything, but what can you do? Know what you mean Desperate Housewife, which is why I'm saving up for a house - better to invest in property than keep it saving up (I hope!)

Ohhh i cant wait til midnight tonight so I can add another £500 onto my savings. Got so much on this month that im hoping I can keep the £500 in the savings. That will be me up to £1000. Think that is the most ive ever saved in my life. Doing great for it only being a month and a half since I started this challenge. If we didnt have to pay 2 holidays at the end of the month I would have been able to add another £800 or so but not to worry we have to have a life as well. Least we dont have anything coming out of Marchs pay wohooo its all ours. (Im sure something will come up neither the time)
Well £500 per month seems about our limit to ket us live a good life also which is essential for us or else we wld defo lose the motivation to save
Happy savings everyoneMortgage deposit target April £9000
New mortgage deposit target May £8000 to go0 -
£50 added today after a freelance payment came through. Wish I could add more but the main priority at the moment is making sure I've got enough to cover my taxes (boo!). Once that's out the way I'll be throwing myself back into this challenge, that's for sure!ISA savings: £25,139 Other Savings: £1750 (tied up in bond)0

I used the free listing on eBay over the weekend and listed 47 items, was a bit of a marathon. I'm just wondering whether it would be sensible to buy a few things to resell at a later date. I bought a book about someone who makes their entire living from eBay and he advocates collecting items for the Christmas market Sept - Dec. I've had a look at various small items that would make good gifts, the auction price is way below the 'Buy it now' price so I was wondering if I bid and won (spending)under the 'Buy it now' price whether or not I could turn it into a profit later. Has anyone had any experience with this?
However I aim to make 1k this month via eBay as I have a couple of large items to sell - wish me luck0 -
Wohooooo,
Well thats me up to £1000 in my savingsFeels so good to have some money put away. Wish i didnt have to pay for a golf trip for hubbie as that would have been an extra £350 but not to worry. That will prob be me for feb as we could maybe squeeze another £300 or so at the end of the month but i would rather have some fun as well, maybe treat myself to something nice this month
