Thank you for the warm welcome
I have 6 days to go til Feb payday, where I am aiming to save £900 over the month of February. . .if I can do this, thats 3% there! Its small, but its a start :rotfl:

I think the biggest motivator for me will be seeing the money start to increase in the savings pot. . .at the moment a big fat £0 is providing very little incentive :(
Now totally debt free & it feels better than anything money can buy!
Next stop - savings pot for house deposit :j
  • Stqueen i know what you mean about low incentive when theres a low amount of cash in the savings :( I feel the same at the min and this in the past has stopped me from keeping going. Im an impatient person and I like to see things happen quickly.

However since joining this forum my whole attitude towards saving has changed and Ive came to learn that it will be a slow process but coming on here and chatting to others seems to really help the time pass. Plus there is lots of different challenges that keep me motivated :)

So happy savings and you dont have long til payday :) Wohoooooo
    Mortgage deposit target April £9000
New mortgage deposit target May £8000 to go

Not doing very well with my challenge at the moment. I've realised that I'll be due to pay quite a bit more tax than last year (I'm freelance/self-employed) so I'm focusing on making sure I'll have enough for that and the £5k saving goal is taking a backseat at the moment. I doubt I'll get anywhere near the goal now that I've got to take that into account but needs must!
ISA savings: £25,139 Other Savings: £1750 (tied up in bond)
  • I've had 2 NSD's in a row - resisting the temptation of chocolate bars & magazines on the way home from work, and taking a packed lunch into work instead of tucking in at the onsite restaurant ;)

This weekend I'm visiting my parents & sister, so unfortunately, a full tank of diesel is necessary, along with the spending that goes with a day out shopping

I'm trying to do pretty much everything (or most things) that I used to do but at much much lower cost - you have to keep a life going as well I think :)

  • Well Friday's payday so I've transferred over my normal £40 and an extra £5 which would have gone to my clothing budget but is being saved because I have vouchers:D.

I agree! I am now much more aware of what I spend and so not wasting anywhere near as much as I used to but still "having a life" :P
