I haven't used this forum for so long and at the risk of sounding disgusting !!! sucky upy and cheesy I seem to have lost all 'lets go for it' drive!! It's amazing how reading this site each day in the past really pushed me to go for it! I've managed to save a grand total of £20. Yes. You did read that right... a 2 and a 0. UGH! I knew it would be really really hard as we have car insurance this month, we had a catalogue bill earlier in the month which was around the £100 mark and then next month another catalogue bill of £200 to go out. It's also been my sons birthday this month too. Today after reading this thread I was like right I've got to really go for it, so have sorted out some of the ebay stuff I want to get listed in the hope it'll push up the total saved amount. I've been lucky enough to have my grandad pay my over draft (well it's not cleared, but there is enough money in my bank to cover it so that I wont need to pay interest) for it which from this month should save £20 a month. Still need to cancel virgin... It's in my partners name and I'm sick of asking him *rolls eyes* it's so lovely (and inspiring of course!) to see so many of you really on target!

£254/£12,000 challenge... Only £11,746 to go! Wish me luck!0 -
I've thought of the idea of reselling on ebay many many times. I have noticed from the previous personal experiences that it can be done. For instance I bought my son a good quality sleeping bag in summer which I subsequently sold for more money in winter when he outgrew it. Also back in Oct I bought my daughter a very fancy designer winter coat for £40 (and that was 2nd hand  ), two to three weeks later the same coats were selling on ebay for £65 plus delivery because it was getting closer to the winter.
I guess you just need to be in the right place at the right time... Also the downside is that you could potentially wait for months to get your money back (and of course there is never a guarantee that you would)
Many thanks alionear, it's confirmed my thoughts. I think I'll do it on a small scale, be very picky as to what I buy and sell them nearer to Christmas as I understand it can go a bit manic at that time. The only downside is that it will take funds out of my savings but maybe in the longterm it will be ok.0 -

Yep, and that's the only reason I've not tried it myself yet. I want to keep things very low risk (at least this year) and might try it next year when we are rich with extra £6000 to play with.:rotfl:0 -
Love my bank. Good old Barclays.
Set up a higher rate 12 month savings account, whereby there was a standing order of £250 due to go out each month.
Started in Dec, so when Jan's payment didnt go in I thought nothing of it, maybe the opening monies accounted for the first month....?
Well Feb's hasnt gone in either!
It clearly shows that x amount will go out on x date. But it isnt.
Need another plan of where to put that now, grr. Another bank maybe :rotfl:
My TopCashBack paid out though, so ive another £12 to add to the savings w00p w00p0 -
