Payday arrives and after a busy morning I now have spreadsheets coming out of my ears. Sadly having spent £964.90 on a skiing holiday and £375 on new suits, this month hasn't exactly been thrifty.
Will figure out exactly where I'm at and update the main spreadsheet on the front page.0 -
I have just been shopping and went to Tesc* to spend my points of £5.50, what a waste of time supermarket! I never shop in there, its only cos the kids mobile is tesco as its cheap and it accrues points. Well, I went round the shop twice with my basket, sniffing out a bargain...none to be had, so I ended up buying 5 bags of wholemeal flour which came to the grand total of 25p what with the points!
Next stop Sainsburys to spend the haggled nectar points from british gas service which I managed to get off them when the service was up for renewal, I was armed with a list though and bought pulses, rice etc and the grand total came to 80p! I was pleased as I only bought what was on my list, sensible, nutritious foodstuffs to fill up the cupboard and not side tracked by empty calorie 'bargains'.
I am shocked though as to how much food prices have rocketted over the past year, I honestly dont know how on earth people on low incomes manage, especially if they have kids. I feel very lucky indeed to have a job, no debt and some money saved up even though its taken me years to get to this stage I remember when my kids were little and how we struggled. I used to work 10 hour night shifts and not go to bed but stay up all day with the kids, couldnt do it now.
keep up the good work everyone.Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

I know, I feel exactly the same. Last month I did the online grocery order with Tesco as a new customer just to benefit from the £10 intro offer and was shocked at their prices.
So I really do think Aldi rocks! Prices are much lower and quite often you also get more (weight wise) for your money.
Now I only go to the likes of Tesco for Twinings Green Tea (that's the only one my OH will drink) and baking stuff like yeast, baking powder, cocoa powder, etc.0 -

Tell me about it. Ventured into Morrisons the other week instead of my usual Tesco expecting it to be cheaper.... It wasn't. Everything is expensive everywhere. I do most of my shopping at farm foods and Fulton foods and my staff shop which are a lot cheaper, that only really works for frozen stuff though.0 -
glad others agree!
Is anyone looking at ISAs yet for next financial year or am I too early? I am casually looking out for any deals that come up for putting the challenge money away. Maybe we could keep each other on red alert for deals?!Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000

I was wondering about that too, but all the deals I can find at the moment are for 2011/2012 tax year. Definitely planning to move it for the next year though.0 -
I am declaring my Feb savings today - have cc bill and DD moving out, so lots of expense for the rest of the month.
1st month I saved £134.33
This month I have managed to increase my savings by £386!! I am really pleased with that!! :T
So Jan/Feb total is £520.33
Just off to update from the link on 1st post.0 -
Can I just ask people that when you put the information on the link on the first post, that you just do the month in question i.e february? The spreadsheet will update your overall total, so just monthly totals will do! ThanksBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
