newmoneysaver wrote:Hello,
Is there anyway to contact a freecycle mod?
I have received a rather strange email, as a reply to an post I listed months ago - I think I only received this email as you can tell I am female from my email address. Is there a way to let the mod know so that he/she can be made aware? (I would hate to think that this person is emailing only female to engage inconversation or whatever!!!)
Thanks!
Yep,
At the bottom of your home page a a short list of four email addresses for your group.

I've recently discovered Dundee freecycle.
Had been looking for a light coloured hifi unit for ages (tried auctions/ebay/local paper etc) and my first week on there- what did someone have for offer? I was really delighted with it, and have since been lucky enough to get a couple of other bits and pieces. Found someone to take away some pallets from my garden, a garage full of packing cases and a few other things. But I know what you mean about the people looking for leather suites, someone even wanted a 5 bedroomed house to rent! Still this week I got a lovely yoghurt maker, I'd probably not have bought one new, as it may well have ended up cluttering the cupboards, but with freecycle once I lose interest, I can pass it on.0 -
Well a 5bedroom house is def not a landfill item so such a post should never have been accepted! Now to flasks-one of those old ones which if dropped shatter? A plastic kiddie one? Nah- I think it will be a nice big stainless steel one please!Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0

5 bedroom house was'nt asked for. What was asked was if anybody know's anybody renting a 5 bedroom house as they were desperate and struggling.
Aparently received lots of responses and did get a 5 bedroom house to rent.0 -

How i like how she just chooses the one she would like incase anybody happens to have it. I would like a PSP, PS3 and a new house but i aint going to advertise.
Hi,
As part of this years resolution to get fit and healthy, I advertised a week
or two back for a yoghurt maker and was very pleased to get one. Now my
daughter wants one-
Ideally a non electric one like the Lakeland Easiyo, but would be very
grateful for anything? Suppose it is too much to hope that someone else has
one lurking at the back of a cupboard?
Many thanks
Hi as you may have guessed this was me! My daughter is living in a small rented oldish flat and trying to live healthily on a very low wage after 4 years at Uni. (And no, she is not a lone parent, just someone who regards the type of work she does (medical research) as more important than the salary). As she has one socket in her kitchen area- I thought a yoghurt maker that didn't plug in would be handy as the yoghurt might not set if constantly switched off to plug her kettle in. However, someone did kindly refer me to the Yoghurt making site on here, and as I do have a thermos, (but thanks for your offer) I have given her that, and full instructions. Hardly on the same scale as someone wanted a PS3, or a house I'd have thought!0 -
I've only given stuff away so far: did ask for a couple of things but wasn't lucky. (not quite in the PS3 league: a spade and some plastic sheeting).
I'm a bit miffed at the moment though as the last couple of times I've had someone coming to collect they've not turned up.
I think I'll have to start agreeing a time and then if I need to go out and it's outwith the time I said I'll just go. That's resonable? I have been waiting in for people.
The people that have turned up have been really pleased to get the things I offered and very pleasant: it was a good feeling.0 -

I actually did see your posts on Dundee Freeecycle, too, and thought about sending you directions about making yoghurt in a flask - but I was not sure if people really want that kind of advice (basically, it is telling them how to do without the item they asked for)? I was afraid it would sound bossy or cheeky? What aare other people's thoughts?0 -
Well still no news or posts from the Darlington group so I've asked the area GOA to investigate and she's going to get back to me.0

I agree with you serendipity2706. Asking for a yoghurt maker, preferably non-electric doesn't seem like a cheeky request to me. TBH I think people can ask for whatever they want and if it is unreasonable no-one will offer it so it will self regulate. There's really no need to be passing further judgement on whether wanted requests are reasonable or not. The transaction is between the person who makes the request and anyone who responds to it and I think people who are not involved should mind their own business. Similarly while I can understand people who make offers not wanting to give things to proffesional traders but I don't think it is anyone's place to be judging people as to whether they are the deserving poor.0
