I love Freecycle/Freegle
I've had some lovely things given to me in the past - a brand new water filter jug (still in its box), a camping stove, some tarpaulin to cover a shed roof....
And I've also given away a load of things that, whilst useful, weren't useful *to me* at that time.
So g'wan, OP - go find something else that you can give away to someone - what goes around, comes around! :T
(You may well have already given away the contents of your junk room, shed and understairs room-of-doom....in which case, consider the steamer a very just reward!)0 -
Excellent!! I love freecycle too0

hi
I put a sos out on Freecycle yesterday for my friend that has bi polar and has been offered a place in a lovley supported living scheme
I asked for a double bed and any household articles, my goodness I have been to collect some kitchen utensils from a very large posh detached house, the lady of the house had just changed her kitchen colour scheme from cream to red. she gave me a microwave kettle toaster mugs dinner service the who kit and keboodle and when she learnt of my friends circumstances she gave me look at a lovley black iron bed and wardobe to match, which she said if we could collect next week we could have:T:Tand she threw in some bed linen too....
I had to stop on the way back as my eyes were too full of water to drive any further, it has been a long long time since Ive come across such genorosity to a unknown stranger and it makes me feel good that despite the hardships we all face there are still some beautiful folks left in this world...
Im soon to be clearing out my ex marital home and everything not needed is going on to Freecycle, that way the favour keeps on rolling on, and yes I do believe you reap as you sow in this life, so long live Freecycle..
Annie56TODAY I WOKE UP< LOOKED AROUND ME AND SAID TO MYSELF>> ANNIE YOUR ONE LUCKY WOMAN TO HAVE WHAT YOU HAVE!!!!!!!!!!!:D:DLive according to your means, not up to your expectations.

On our local freecycle a wanted was put out for a lady who had just moved into a house with her two young children. She had virtually nothing and within a week the man who put the wanted in posted a thanks. She was practically completely set up including bikes for her two children.
It was so nice to see the way everyone rallied round a completely unknown family.0 -
These stories are brilliant! Really makes me stop and think when strangers help each other out like this. There are a lot of good people in the world0

I very much tongue in cheek put an advert on our local freecycle for a steam cleaner, much to my suprise someone contacted me with the offer of one. I have just collected it and it is a Polti Vaporetto 2400. I am so grateful, it has saved me money I really could not afford to spend in order to ensure there are no spores of C-Diff left in the house and I can also clean my settee cushions and the hall carpet which gets very grubby.I put a sos out on Freecycle yesterday for my friend that has bi polar and has been offered a place in a lovley supported living scheme

As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'm delighted to put it onto the existing Freecycle thread, as antidote to many of the negative experiences :T:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0
