I've never had to pay bank charges as have always been very careful with all my accounts. Can I make a claim even though I made an error?

I tried to transfer £3k from Cahoot to Icesave. I have various accounts with Cahoot including a current account, a joint current account and savings accounts.

I thought Icesave was linked to my joint account so put the £3k in there. Turns out it is infact linked to my current account so i have been charged £25 for a return of a DD.

Do I have a leg to stand on?

    Thanks

Just give them a call, for the sake of £25 I would say they will refund it for you. I had one from Natwest who I just claimed from, I got charged £28 for being £1.73 over my OD so I gave them a bell & they were fine with it thats after they paid me £1200 :rotfl: :rotfl:

  • Hi

I have sucsessfully reclaimed my bank charges from the Lloyds TSB with the help from this site and The Consumer Action Group - Thanks to everyone. However, I have noticed that since last year when i took my money from Lloyds and ran (very quickly) closing my account along the way Cahoot have been charging me £30 per month for not having a direct debit set up for my personal loan, can they apply this charge and if co can I claim it back as unlawful??

I'm not late making payments to my personal loan, I transfer the money each month before the payment date directly from my new current account - I s'pose i'm lazy for not re-instating the direct debit but i didn't think it mattered - Doh!

I understand at the mo most reclaim letters are on hold until after the test case but i would like to get the ball rolling asap if possible. Oh and i have set up a direct debit now!

Any advice greatly appreciated, thanks for reading

Well i got the charge refunded as such a good record, neer going overdrawn etc. Said they won't refund next time though which is fair enough
  • I have the above date for a hearing. I received a letter saying bank was applying for a stay over a month ago but the court has received nothing. Is it too late for them to stay it now?

Also if I do get there what do I say? (I have read earlier posts and know what documents to take along)

Claim is nearly £2k from Cahoot in the Exeter court

    Thank you

They can apply on the day for a stay...I take it cahoot is a credit card??? If it is..then they are merely scaremongering you, credit card charges do not come under bank current account charges which are currently under the waiver..in the latter of your post ..should you get a chance to say anything you immediately point out that this is credit card charges and not bank current account charges, should your claim be a credit card charge claim.
  • The charges are bank charges from Cahoot (Internet part of Abbey)

ok....then yes it is possible for them to apply for a stay on the day.
  • Hi,

I worte to Cahoot reclaiming charges relating to a credit card and loan account. They have replied with a letter relating to the test case. The letter starts "We acknowledge receipt of your complaint about unauthorised overdraft charges" !!

Is there a template or guide on how to tackle this in the next stage? As far as I am aware the test case is for Bank Account charges NOT Crecit Cards or Loans??
Proud to be dealing with my debts, 18 months to go! :T
