Lets hope its a lesson to the BANKS not to charge above and beyond what is reasonable, fair and legal!
Well done for staying strong. I'm hopefully not too far behind you!!0 -
May seem a silly Question, but when making out my letter and adding a cheque for £10 to get my overcharged data for 6 years do I make it out to "cahoot" or "cahoot abbey national"
Is the letter necessary or can I get them to email me the data ?
Thanks for any help.

Well, I warned them once, I warned them twice and they ingnored me - lets see if they will ignore the information commissioner when they tell them to send my credit card statements!!!!0

Didnt realise that there was a seperate Cahoot thread, I stuck this on the Abbey National one around the middle of March. It appears that all Cahoot enquiries are going via the Abbey National parent company.I got my 6 years worth of charges back around the New Year after requesting them. They were actually quite helpful with me, even ringing to check I had them. Although this is the Cahoot part of Abbey.
I sent a letter with the charges spreadsheet on the 31st January, the amount with interest was around £3,000.
I received a letter from Abbey dated 14th Feb saying that they were investigating and it would take around 4 weeks. I received another today dated 6th Match saying that it was taking longer than anticipated and needed another 4 weeks.
I thought they were delaying anyway.
So I sent another letter today telling them that at least 10 weeks from the initial complaint isn't good enough and if the complaint wasn't resolved to my saisfaction within 7 days then I'd be filing details through the courts.
I'm guessing that I'm just adding to their delaying tactics now and should have just filed through MCOL. This shouldn't affect anything though should it? When they dont reply or reply in the negative then I'm guessing that I should just take up the process where I left off and file through the courts.
Thanks
Watski
I filled the MCOL and sent on the 22nd March, it was acknowledged on the 3rd April. Can anyone give me an indication of what happens now?
Just one other thing...in the particulars of the case part on MCOL I just filled out any old rammell, it basically detailed the whole process I'd been through and what I was claiming. I've only just seen that there was an advised template on the process from Martin. This shouldn't affect anything should it?0 -

Got a letter from the Claims Team at Cahoot this morning basically asking for copies of the claims schedule (I'd sent it with the original claim). This appears to be what happens when it gets to the latter stages with any bank anyway.
My question is:, I'm sending them a reply tomorrow, but being about 10 days away from judgement does anyone think I ought to copy the court in on my reply?0 -
I am curious as to wether you can reclaim against a building society. I have thousands of pounds worth of charges going back 6 years. Last year was the worst, I made payment arrangements with over ten companies on a weekly basis, and the temp agency paid me kate over ten weeks in a row incurring charges from all debits. At first some of the companies were sympathetic, but after awhile I had the impression I was trying it on. Being heavily pregnant I couldnt leave the job I was in, yet one week I made 160.00 and paid out over 135.00 in charges, the agency wouldnt help, and I know I would have to claim it back through the building society, but I have never read anyone else doing this. Also I want to know if anyone has been successful reclaiming charges from cahoot?0

Thanks to everyone that has responded especially regarding cahoot, I will go ahead and claim, I am just a little nervous because I was a manager there. Does anyone know the staus on building societies? I would still like to reclaim against coventry building society as well as cahoot. I have started with haliax irst though. I am at the stage that I have send them a letter accepting a slightly lower amount i they will settle but its almost two weeks and no joy as yet0

I have just had this exact same problem, they sent me a very bizarre letter saying they wanted to save me the fee for my request (I already sent them a cheque for £10 with my letter) and they were including the info I wanted? As it turned out it was only for the account which didn't have any charges on. Have just written another letter to them reminding them of my request and that I expect a proper response within 40 days of the first letter. Would love to know how anyone else got on with the same problem.0 -
Hi everyone, I have been pursuing my bank charges £1850 for sometime I have exhausted all of the template letters, been passed from Cahoot to Abbey's banking specialist dept and even extended there deadline to try to give them a bit of a kick.
I have as of last night filed my claim online, although even raising the £120 court fee was a struggle I am expecting to have to go almost all the way and am nervous as hell as to what they my attempt to do regarding my credit card which I also have with them. But the £1850 would make such a difference it would pay off cahoot and put me on the road back into the black.0
